Patrick your advice is always right on the money . . . I was way ahead of you ( Casey only thought this was the last mix!) But I had made another with highpass on the vox and with the solo volume punched up a bit. It's a lot better imo. Thanks again for helping me get Casey's song where it needed to be (BTW he's a slave driver )ha ha cool, Bill thx man... we must be on similar wave lengths... don't you hate it when your final mix .. ISN'T? (drives me nuts.. "ok, ok.. now THIS is the last one")

Re: 60's Brit Pop: A Casey/BillG Project
I have to laugh at myself big time... While re-writing this song, I pained obsessively over the lyrics to verse 2 as far as grammar, tense, etc. When I say "pained", I really mean "pained"... lost sleep over it! (I am secure enough with myself in admitting my neuroticness)...Well, last night I happened to look up the exact lyrics to The Hollies' "Bus Stop" and really had to laugh.... Bus Stop (G. Gouldman)(Verse 1)Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say,"Please share my umbrella."Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love growsunder my umbrella. All that summer we enjoyed it,wind and rain and shine. That umbrella we employed it.By August, she was mine. (Chorus)Every morning I would see her waiting at the stop.Sometimes she'd shop, and she would show me what she'd bought. All the people stared as if we were both quite insane.Someday my name and hers are going to be the same. (Verse 2)That's the way the whole thing started.Silly, but it's true.Thinking of a sweet romancebeginning in a queue. Came the sun the ice was melting,no more sheltering now.Nice to think that that umbrellaled me to a vow.In the chorus, he goes from "she would" and "she'd" to "all the people stared" (past tense). And on a different subject-- conversational lyric... Would anyone really say, "That umbrella we employed it"? Talk about going non-conversational to force a rhyme!!!This is all said in fun, not to say we shouldn't do our best when we write. But it goes back to what I always say are the 2 songwriting rules:(1) Follow all the "rules" taught by the songwriting gurus.(2) A great song with a killer hook overrides rule #1. CaseyPS Thanks again to Bill for his tireless work producing this song and to everyone who helped out with feedback!

Quote:That umbrella we employed it"? Talk about going non-conversational to force a rhyme!!!Yeah, poetic justice!
I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

If it's 60s Brit Pop they want, this is surely it. And a really good song to boot. Good job, guys. Like the way you approached the vocals Bill. Good writing, Case. Niiiice

Thanks Liam and everyone who took the time to listen, comment, and/or post. You've been awesome and I really appreciate it! Bill, you've been awesome to work with here and I truly am sorry about your dog. From time to time, people post on these boards about demo-services, who to hire, etc. I've had the pleasure now of working with two of our own-- billg & B. Flat. In both cases, tracks were produced that did or are doing well out there-- inside and outside of taxi. What I did was pay attention to the kind of material people were producing and how successful they were. I knew B. Flat from before taxi (I referred him to taxi, taking my bow ) and that his music was top notch. Then as a taxi member, I saw him get forward after forward. So, when I thought I had a decent song, I approached him. We've done one song and have a few in the queue. "One More Night In New Y*rk City" and "N-Y-C Instrumental" (backing track) are pitching well out there. The latter already has an offer from a library that lists with taxi all the time. These two are on www.taxi.com/caseyh ...I had this old song with a poor production that I envisioned with a somewhat Dylan-like approach. Well, after seeing Bill get forward after forward on his Dylan-like work, I asked if I could hire him to re-do my "Frankl-y Scarlet". He did and the song was signed on the very first pitch. This version is the first song on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/charles_p_hurowitz ... (Not on my taxi page right now)...And then I saw the terrific 60's/Beatles replacement-track work Bill did, and approached him about the song on this thread, "The Beauty In Your Eyes". I have high hopes for this one when the next 60's replacement-track taxi listing shows up! I'm writing this to speak to the power of this forum and how the relationships built here can go along way toward forwards, deals, etc. I can't speak as to the business side or availability of working with great folks like B. Flat and billg... I just wanted to mention my terrific experiences.HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! Best wishes for success in '09! Casey
