Cherry Pie with Upright Bass
Hey Ya'll,I've added upright bass and cut this tune down to less than 1:30 (TV theme song time). Can you give me some feedback on cuts, continuity and the mix. Also thinking about the title - leaning toward "Strolling Central Park" or "A Stroll in Central Park" or "Central Park Shuffle" or some derivative thereof.http://www.taximusic.com/stream/190094/ ... hanks,Kitz

Re: Cherry Pie with Upright Bass
it's a pity to have it pared down to this short a visit but I get it ....no name help from me, I'm shite at that - tho the word "stroll" doesn't come to mind for me when listening ... maybe it's just the hidden scrabble player in me that sees it thru jaded eyes ...plus, the pace just ain't strolling (unless you live in the UK where EVERYBODY walks at about 6MPH ALL the time)continuity? mmmmmm ..... well .... huh? the basic flow hasn't changed to my ear and I've been digging this since ... if you changed the arrangement, without A/Bing, I don't hear it. therefore, same with the cuts ...bass sounds great .... mix is about where I'd think it should be although it wouldn't break my heart to hear the guitar dropped off a few db's and the whole mix brought up equally to match - tho with that, a tad (more) compression might be necessary on the upright.oh and there's a chance (small chance) that maybe a little bit of wet might oughta be thrown over the top of the whole thing .... I'd have to hear that to compare and know for sure but maybe ... still, excellent. I "feel" every note.
Gave up guilt when I left the ol' school girl uniform behind. You know, cute little skirts and knee socks, nuns and rulers and all that.

Re: Cherry Pie with Upright Bass
I'm no expert in terms of jazz, but here is a little problem I have with this piece. Before I get to my little problem with this tune, I want to say how much I like this song. The guitar performance is top notch, that is some sweet guitar you got going there. Now my little problem, the busy beat with the brushes on the hi hat and snare seemed to distract me from the guitar, there needs to be more contrast to better distinguish between the snare and hi hat, the few fills on the toms need to be more audible, the ride cymbal sounded good. The bass sounds good. As I mentioned before and it's worth mentioning again, the guitar is awesome!

I like this a lot. I think the mix would be perfect if the entire drum kit was a bit more out front. That's my only nit-pik, I really like this.

Re: Cherry Pie with Upright Bass
Thanks Guys for all your input!!I have mixed again using the ideas you all have put forth and I don't know - sometimes my ears just get tired of thinking - I think. Anyway I swung the chorus a little more and tried to add a little overall 'verb and re-eq the bass and kick it up a notch as well as the drums, soooo - the latest mix is here:http://www.taximusic.com/stream/190426/ ... 014.mp3I'd again appreciate your input as my deadline approacheth rapidly. Please let me know if I over/under did it! Thanks for helping me you guys!!!Kitz
