They Call Her Barracuda
Here is a song that Bill Creel and I wrote about Sarah Palin. We are pitching it to the RNC. Comments appreciated.http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... 705TomThey Call Her Barracudac/ 2008 Thomas Shea and Bill CreelShe's more than you can imagine. She will never be one of them.Better watch your step around her.She is coming ‘round again.Challenge her or keep your distance.Think before you take that chance. Don’t think the speed she’s moving atMeans she don't know the dance. They call her barracuda. There are many who have learnedPretty faces don't not mean weakness. Mess with her; you’re gonna get burned. She might not be too familiar.May be someone you don’t knowUnderstand what’s going to happen. She’s won’t ever let it go.You question what she can handle. You think she’s not as tough as you.Better consider your direction. It's time to face the truthThey call her barracuda. There are many who have learnedPretty faces don't mean weakness.Mess with her; you’re gonna get burned.Instrumental Break It's been a long time comingNow she's here. They call her barracudaThere are many who have learnedPretty faces don't mean weakness.Mess with her; you’re gonna get burned.repeat

If the song is to be used as is I think it could be better if you made the kick drum consistent and "married" the bass parts with it instead if chugging through. Some slide guitar would be a perfect fit. Anyhooo, that's what I would do.

Ok.... I'm putting politics aside.... only talking song here, so please don't take anything I say that way.... (this thread could get dangerous if we didn't do that -- HOT POTATO!!!).The chorus needs to be bigger IMO, more lift, etc.... it sounds more like an extension of the verse and doesn't really add any new melodies, etc. Also, to extend the life of the song as much as possible, you'll probably want to drop all phrases about not knowing her or questioning how much she can handle.... all this stuff is going to be discovered in the next couple/few weeks and then you'll be left with a very kitschy song with a very short life span. Stick to the tough theme without going there, and you'll get more mileage out of it.And.... something else to think about.... I realize that Palin has "energized the party base," but you should probably make up a song for BOTH McCain and Palin.... afterall.... McCain is at the top of the ticket. At least it would be a better way to approach it IMO with the RNC, and could result in more for you!

I can't imagine the RNC has the stomach to put up with the backlash of public opinion that it might generate. Van Halen — Right NowJackson Browne — Running on EmptyOrleans — Still the OneFrankie Valli — Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of YouWhy do politicians believe it's Ok to steal songs for their own uses? And if you're writing a song destined for about Palin, "the Barracuda," don't you think that the McCain camp might be predisposed by now to completed avoid any association with Barracuda, as a song concept? Just wondering out loud. Haven't listened to your song at all. It might be awesome, but it might not be a good fit for the listing, at this particular time, if you know what I mean.

Hey Tom...I think the song has a certain drive to it, which i like..I think the pitch of the vocals is fine, but i feel that the vox seem a bit, hmm..lazy. I could hear a bit more growl and dynamic rangein the melody, 'specially in the chorus..wish you the best!geoff
