momo, your comments are downright scary. Not scary cause I disagree, scary 'cause everything you pointed out is what I advise against for other writers and go out of my way to avoid with my own work. Scary because I wrote the thing and never snapped. Actually, the more I listened to the work the more I thought something wasn't right. Darn shame I didn't pick up on the incessant rhyming and the multiple cliches. I just gave it another listen, and it needs a total overhaul. Maybe scrapped completely. Thanks for the honesty.

Steve, thanks a lot for the reply and the support. Fact is, the thing is a disaster! However, maybe the music is salvageable if I can work the drags out and step it up. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Have you ever thought that if you spent less time here telling stupid jokes and asking for sympathy and more tome focusing on your chosen craft it might bring you a bit nearer the success you claim you want. This board used to be about, composers, musicians, songwriters sharing musical experiences. Now it seems to have more than it's fair share of clowns.Have you thought about being a comedian? You are probably better suited to that than trying to be a songwriter.

LOL!! I'm starting to think there's more to this picture... lopc-- That's a great thread, as I'm sure many of us can relate to many of the feelings you've had. We all get in slumps from time to time, but the sun keeps coming up every morning (so far!), and sometimes it's time to just start fresh for a new day... I'm always inspired to hear how many people had dreams of doing this all their life-- and there are always a friends around here to give our spirits a little lift... Quote:Hi lopc-Two thoughts:1. One of the most important skills you can develop as a songwriter is the ability to follow through on a project. Not only will this help you complete the songs you need to market, but it will help you follow through with your marketing plans as well. 2. If your older songs truly are that great, then you certainly owe it to yourself (and to the world) to finish them. On the other hand, don't be afraid to "cut your losses" if some half-baked, going-nowhere song ideas are weighing you down. There's always another song to write, especially if your skills are more advanced than they used to be.FWIW,AndréAndré-- I loved your thoughts! You've got a way of being so concise, and it's clear that you've got the experience behind you to know what this feels like and how to handle it. I enjoyed reading your post-- thanks! Cheers to y'all, and many happy re-writes and new beginnings! Raags

Hello Casey,I have a big problem responding to your comments because like this one they are so benign and innocuous there isn't really anything to say but I know you get upset if I ignore you. I would suggest coming off the Diethl ether and see if that helps.

I think someone needs to read their playground handbook again...

Oh, and I get to be benign and innocuous too? Good... Some B & I for me is just what the doctor ordered... All these years I always wondered what Bob Dylan was talking about in "Subterranean Homesick Blues"... I finally figured it out!!!Johnny's in the basementMixing up the medicine...
