Quote:Tim- I’m getting the impression that you assume I don’t have a strong work ethic. I work VERY hard at music & have for over 30 years, sir. I still put in 10-12 hours a day 6-7 days a week as I ALWAYS have. Not trying to challenge your work ethic man, just your outlook.

So if i want to hire one to "build me some shit" I've got plenty of choices.Personally I don't think I'd hire one who keeps repeating how damn long he's been a carpenter for, like I owe him something because of that...or one who's liable to berate me if I ask for some changes to the "shit" he's building for me...or one who keeps telling me how crappily his previous bosses treated him...or for that matter, one who YELLS a lot and paints all his furniture in red and green Maybe that's just me?...Well then, to each his own carpentry choices...

Quote:Martin- C’mon man, take the time to read the original post. Just read it! As for just moving on after a rejection, do these look familiar?http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?a ... &page=1DHi Wade,After reviewing these posts you quoted above, it appears that Martin was soliciting feedback so he could target those pieces more accurately in the future, he was very gracious in his responses and then the thread ended on a high note. I don't think this thread is going down the same route.Internet message boards are a good place to vent but as you know, everything we say here is searchable by anyone on the planet that has a computer and internet access. It feels like a nice cozy group hug a lot of times but in reality we're totally open to anyone that is lurking. That may include the company and guy from company who's conversations and correspondence you are posting here.I sincerely hope that you are busy building some extremely cool shit in your studio right now and that it gets placed in high profile shows. imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Just my two simple cents.....I learn the long process of targeting my music (as best I can).I get a return. I re-work it.It gets returned again.I re-work it again.Until I get it right. And it gets forwarded. And I am a better writer because of it.I have grown more in the last 8 months (writing, recording etc.) than I have in the last 5 years. Taxi pushes me.And I love it!Bresky

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
I didn't want this to turn into a battle, just wanted to point out something that would frustrate anyone here. And, Steve, I meant to say thanks for the kind words about my playing. I know we've had some disagreements in the past. (Remember that time at the Beverly Crest in Edmonton when everyone was in my room having a few & we found you in the closet with my soldering iron using it as a........never mind.) And stop changing your damn picture!Matto, in case I forgot to mention, I've been in the business for over 30 years. I'm sorry about the YELLING & the odd choice of colours I use for text but, as you can see from my picture, I have a problem with my eyes. It's a medical condition. Here- Is this any better? More later on the awful bosses I've had.... Be careful out there everybody,Wade

As for just moving on after a rejection, do these look familiar?http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?a ... 49&page=1I agree with mazz - it's a diffrence if one is trying to find out why a particular song hasn't been forwarded and learn from that or if one is freaking out, blaming companies etc etc. so I have nothing to add here.I just wanted to share an experience I've recently made: I've builded a relationship to a publisher who wanted to sign one of my tracks. to make the story short: finally he passed on my track, because he wanted more in the same direction and at the moment I simply hadn't have the time to write exactly what he was looking for.did I like that? no. did I flip out and blame him for doing so? no, I just let him kindly know that I will contact him again when I have more suitable material."be sure to let the door open before you leave" - a simple saying, yet many people just don't follow it.focus your energy where it has a POSITIVE impact - that will bring you further.all the best, martin

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Wow Wade,Not sure what it is about your posts, but you seem to fire up people a little more then the average bear! That's probably a good thing, if your music generates 1/10th the emotion that your posts do... I am glad you are sticking it out on the forums, I know your first post got out of hand quickly.I guess humor is often time misunderstood on a forum, then you come back to 10 people ripping you a new one because they didn't get the joke, sends the thread in the wrong direction fast.I am sure you know this, otherwise you wouldn't still be here, but it amazes me how much free and valuable information is available here from the community. This thread alone has contributions from some amazingly helpful folks (Dave, Matt, Mazz, Martin, Vikki, Steve and anyone else i forgot to mention)I would say your skin is "thick enough" since you are still posting here. and I think we are getting a more a costumed to your on-line personality, so these posts "should" keep moving in positive directions.RobOh, FWIW, I think the newbie comments are about being new to the forum, not new to music biz or TAXI.

Sometimes text can be misinterpreted, I know that. Here's an article about it....http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0515/p13s ... ml....that I found at a very funny site(#3)-http://www.cracked.com/article_15231_7- ... le.htmlAnd here's another one for the musicians-http://www.cracked.com/article_15636_10 ... songs.html(Check out some of the comments at Cracked. It's funny how angry some people get. I mean, it's a damn comedy site! Lighten up!)I'm used to being around musicians with twisted outlooks on things. I think people around here are starting to understand where I'm coming from. Others don't appreciate my humor but that's life & I don't see the need to edit myself. Plus I've paid my $300, so it's my right to irritate people. You're right, there are some very helpful folks here. Vikki's great at answering questions & Matto......hates colour. He's an anti-colourite.Take care,Wade
