Re: Help me interpret this listing
Hey everyone, My take on the question re: covers is... They want a cover song, but keeping in mind you can't cover a song too closely, else there will be copyright issues. It would be like buying a copy of the said song. burn you own copies and calling it your own.The meaning of cover is to play the cover but there has to be something of your own signature on the recording... some sort of lick that makes people say " Oh that's a nice addition" That was not on the original. But, seems that some Stars can follow as close as they want without any problems.Thats the way I have read the definitions...GreatmovesBB
First we hear noise in our mind. A joyful sound we call music, Thus we all play by ear... bjb Songwriter

Re: Help me interpret this listing
answering this question:He said that this listing is looking for different versions ofClassic Rock songs, not "sound-a-likes," and therefore recommendssubmitting material that pays homage to the artist, but is not necessarilyan exact copy of their song.It doesn't necessarily need to sound like that era, but obviously havingelements from that period wouldn't hurt either.HTHCheers all! =)-Kel

Re: Help me interpret this listing
Man wish I had known this before I spent the time (and $5) on three that I submitted. If they knew this it sure would have been easy (and helpful) to have included that info in the original listing.

Re: Help me interpret this listing
I know it really bugs me when they do this! Sometimes I think TAXI are WAY to relaxed to be charging such a high price for there service! They make all these promises and when you sign up the instrumental listings are nearly non-existant and the ones that are there are so vague you can't understand them!Don't mean to be a bitch, but I just think TAXI are slacking! Anyone share my views?

Re: Help me interpret this listing
I called Taxi because if I'm right about who this listing party is I've been forwarded to them before for both soundalike covers and ones with different arrangements.Well, I just got off the phone with Kathy (Cathy?) at Taxi who told me that sound a likes were welcome and that veering from the original was more of a "gamble." I told her that kel had received an email with pretty much the opposite info. She said she would try to find out why.She said the wording in the listing was as they received it.

Re: Help me interpret this listing
I told them that I did a very modern sounding Alternative/Industrial version of a Classic Rock Song by Queen andI asked if I could modernize the sound/style for this listing...Maybe it's becos of the way I asked the question that's why I got that reply... Sorry if I caused any confusion here...I think it's better to follow what Billg said Kathy said... it's definitely safer that way... IMOMy conclusion would be... alternate versions should not be too far from the originals...So, soundalikes and alternate version are fine provided they still have some elements of the original song.-Kel
