"King of the hill" 20 sec.

Post by orest » Fri Aug 15, 2008 7:24 am

I would like some feedback on 2 song (20 sec. each) For this listing: ONE OF THE PRODUCERS OF "KING OF THE HILL" NEEDS MAIN TITLE FOR NEW SERIES that will be airing on a Major Network. He's looking for a 20 second INSTRUMENTAL that is happy, bright, bouncy, uptempo and makes you want to dance. Stylistically, he wants to hear a cheery song with a world music flavor. This comedy is centered around multi-cultural issues and therefore the "World" element is crucial to capture the true heart of the series. Some references that were provided are Kanda Bongo Man (specifically tracks "Lela-Lela", "Zing Zong", "Mama Oule"), "Swale" by Kotoja and all the way to "A-Punk" by Vampire Weekend or "Kid Power" (TV theme song from 1972 - bubblegum version of '70s Funk). Be sure that you only submit :20 segments, as that is all they would like to hear. No fade-outs are recommended for this one. Only Instrumentals, please! The songs can be found here: (part 1 and 2)http://alexanderorest.com/world.htm

gosh you were fast, didn't this listing just come out today? great job on both, but i like part 2 A LOT! maybe a little crescendo into the ending or a bigger hit on the last beat would be cool. i'm gonna see if i can cook something up for this one too, think it should be a fun experiment. (and 20 seconds isn't too daunting)anyway, nice work! definitely send them.

Thanks! Well I am waiting for more input as well from other people before I send them. I will certainly take your advice regarding the end. Yes I did them today as well. But I had some hours to kill before you woke up in the US. I probably got the new listing 8 hours before you did.

My songs are 19 sec. Do you think it's okey? Or do they have to be exactly 20 sec.?

Now whether the song ends abruptly at 0:20 or an ending note at 0:18 or 0:19 fades out to 0:20, that's another thing and depends on the song. But I make it 0:20.Leaving a second of dead space may not seem like much but it'll be noticable if the music ends one full second before the video they're placing it into.

Well, the problem is that I have submitted the songs already. Do they download them immediately, or do I have a chance to change them?

If the deadline has passed, there is no way to know if they have already listened. they don't download, they stream.HTH

Actually since you almost tele-transported through time, practically finishing it before the listing came out (thanks to a little bit of "overseas time adjustment I suppose", I figure that within a month you could probably polish off one more second of music without too much problem.
