Nickfever,I like the 3rd best for this listing. Now keep mind how much I DON'T know about this listing either. The 3rd one just seemd more energetic and kept moving. It didn't have the starts and stops like the other 2. The 30 secs were up before I knew it and I didn't look at the time once. On the other 2, I caught myself watching the secs tick away a few times. Can't wait for the critique on this one.

Che, thanks for listening and the input. The third is definately the most uptempo too (I'm not sure if I should equate that with energetic in the listings though.).I'll be sure to post my critiquesNick

All 3 returned:Here is my critiquehttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=97788&stream=1Track has a nice left-filed sense of humor. Unexpected general pauses towards the beginning are an effective element. Again, as in 015, the choice of sounds dates the overall impression of the piece - it doesn't sound contemporary enough ... drums sound too mechanicalhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=110305&stream=1The track feels like it should swing, but it doesn't really (drums/horns do, but the piano doesn't) ... swing with midi instruments is not easy not achieve, but it can be done with a lot of diligence ... in order to make it work pay attention to every little rhythmical detail and move things around until everything feels smooth and right ... also try expanding the instrumentation of the drum track in order to gain more color. Since you're imiting real instruments, the choice of sounds is crucial in order to achieve the requested broadcast quality ... they need to be as close as possible to the "real thing" ... in your track that's not quite the case, the sounds are too obviously synthy. The piano sound is ok, but it has a somewhat pounding quality to it ... try playing around with lower velocity levels for the piano.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=1You picked some quirky sounds for the melody, which in light of this listing is good. But overall your choice of sounds slightly "dates" the track, the sounds don't have a contemporary, up-to-date quality, they lean more towards retro. The drum track is slightly monotonous and somehow separated in the mix - it is rather upfront while the synths are very noticeably in the background ... try talking to an engineer about how to achieve a more integrated sound.015: the track has a comedic quirkiness to it08: the track has a jazzy, big-band like feel to it which could work within the scope of this listingOverall Comments015: Charming, quirky quality. But choice of sounds date the track and mix issues (see comment to the left) make the piece have less than the requested "broadcast quality".08: jazzy, amiable track. Choice of sounds (too synthy for big-band simulation) and performance issue (doesn't quite swing enough) take the piece out of the "broadcast quality" realmC02: quirky quality with humorous touch. Choice of sounds date the track.015: Mix issues (see other comment boxes) diminish broadcast quality.08: sounds too synthy for the goal (emulation of a jazz ensemble)C02: drums too mechanical, overall mix is QUITE dryThe main reason(s) you were or were not forwarded for this listing is:015: choice of sounds (not contemporary enough sounding) and mix issues08: choice of sounds, performance issues see other comment boxes)C02: choice of sounds (see other comment boxes), drum track sounds very mechanicalAny input is welcome....especially on more contemporary sounds. I don't know how to define contempororay within this listing...any pointers would would be greatly appreciated.

My 2 returns didn't seem to mention that I was off the mark as far as the listing goes. In fact the screener said 'on target..'. Would anyone like to take a stab at the reason for the returns? It'll be fun & it won't cost you $5.00, unlike the listing, which only seemed to confuse everyone. (Obviously, after hearing the other submissions in this thread & the utter contrast in interpretations of this listing. It would be nice if some these listings were a little more specific TAXI.) http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

FYI - Of the two tracks I posted above, one was forwarded, and it was the second one. The screener said that, while the first was a little quirky, it wasn't enough to satisfy the listing (adn the trumpet was out of alignment). He/she liked the creativity of #2, she/he said "unique piece of music projecting a sense of off-the-wall humor; very well produced." HTH a little. It was an interesting listing.

Alright HB - congrats on the forward! I like both tunes but I liked the first one better, or thought it fit the listing better, was quirkier and higher energy, IMO. The ascending/descending trumpet line is my favorite part. Good work.Mather

Hey Guys My song Don't Ask Me Why was forwarded on this one. It's a light hearted sounding song with a very heavy mesage. You can here it on my web site www.songbirdinc.net be sure and read what the song is about by clicking the name of the song. Take care Bill Wren
