Re: examples for classical pieces..?
Mazz, I've got the score to one of Vivaldi's mandolin concertos. This is one of the pieces I was thinking about recording. I think I've got some good mandolin samples in either RA or one of the other ethnic libraries. If I do this and get a submission on a "Baroque guy" I'll buy you a drink in LA. Chuck

Chuck,I'm leaning toward maybe some Debussy, Claire De Lune or something familiar like that. I've also considered a movement from a familiar Mozart or Beethoven piano sonata, re-arranged, of course. Let's see what happens. If I get the "Impressionist guy" forwarded, I'll buy!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Quote:I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they are not as specific with their Eras as we musicians are. I think when they say Classical music, they would be including Bach and Vivaldi and probably even Ravel and Debussy.Definitely classical in the wider sense commonly used in the vernacular.

Quote:BTW, one of my all time favorite "Classical" electronic albums is "Snowflakes Are Dancing" by Tomita. It's the piano music of Debussy done on synthesizers in around 1975 or so. I think I prefer it to Switched on Bach. That makes two of us, Mazz. It has been one of my favorites since the early 70's. My favorite interpretation on it is Debussy's Arabesque in E major. Isn't that whistling precious? I'll bet you folks can get that sound out of your computer software too. I cannot get anything like it out of my synthesizer.
