Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from France - recently, I received emails from CD Baby saying someone in France purchased all three of our CDs - apparently, she was inspired enough to come back to our "Bridge to Presage" page to leave a short review - here it is -"Bridge to Presage"http://www.cdbaby.com/onoffon3Five stars! An unknown groupReviewer: Dominique Puech "I didn't know ONOFFON & discovered them through this CD. A pure jewel. A must have."When you are independently produced and promoted, you earn fans one at a time. When you don't have that huge promotional machine that the major labels have, you knock on doors and introduce yourselves to each individual listener. Selling a CD, or even three at a time, is not the kind of success that labels care about. But, to a struggling band that lives by its quality and integrity, it means the world. Our sincere thanks to Dominique...

Here's a few recent comments about our music for today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day - some are song reviews - some are general comments - all are unsolicited opinions from listeners at Mixposure -"The Gift Must Always Move"http://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=762Reviewed by Karnal Echo - 6/26/2005"What a beautiful sound This is absolutely superbly mixed and beautifully played out. It's got a simple light jazzy feel to it and is just oh so peaceful. I can't say enough about this piece. I think it would fit very well in a movie where someone is riding a bike around admiring the scenery of a foreign place. :0) Maybe I watch too many foreign films (lol) Very well produced and the clarity is superb. Excellent work here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!"Reviewed by drde - 7/8/2005 "Very professional this is so smooth. Your drummer has an excellent feel. Group of mega talented musicians. The build at the end was great (but could have used a killer, synth solo on top . Top tier song.""Surrender Now"http://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=3392Reviewed by J.O. Simon - 7/8/2005"Excellent! This is a groovy tune, the rhythm is blues with a lot of swing, fabulous! The vocal harmonies are jazzy. Yes, this band is a gem. I have ordered a CD at CDBaby!"Mixposure - ONOFFONhttp://www.mixposure.com/onoffonMost recent fan mail by AliasMaurice - 7/8/2005"Superb ApproachTha way you seem to approach your music from tha sound to tha sales is very professional i'm impressed, could learn alot from you guys. Bang on"I love waking everyday and finding new reviews about our music that make it all seem worthwhile. The last comment by AliasMaurice is particularly gratifying - citing not only our sound, but our promotional work - it's very nice to think there are those out there who understand and appreciate - much gratitude...

An artist over at Mixposure discovered our music today and left us a handful of reviews - I thought it fitting to post them as today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day -The Gift Must Always Move Reviewed by: piperon - 7/12/2005 "Peaceful and Wonderful. Great progessive acoustic and wonderful gentleness. Very relaxing for a troubled mind and a enduring music for the troubled world. All that I can feel now is peaceful and at ease. This is good track for a mediatation session or relaxing massage session. Those wonderful guitarists must have the kindred soul to make such marvellous and peaceful music. Great tribute to the kindred souls." Mardi Gras Reviewed by: piperon - 7/12/2005 "The perfect score. This is quite a great Jazzy track but the fabulous saxaphone charm. And I can feel some sort of Latin music in here with the melodious acoustic plays here. The melody is unique and wonderful. The drum and the bongo drum drive in perfectly like a tornado. Great sound and great music for the easy listening path. I like the patches of the bongo drum at 2:50 and the playful tune of the saxaphone too. Great intinst and unique style of jazz passion." Weekend in Montreal Reviewed by: piperon - 7/12/2005 "The Famous Band in Famous Place. A unique play at the city Montreal, a famous and favourite place for musician. Another neat and fabulous saxaphone play by ONOFFON. I always confused with the sound of Saxaphone and Clarinet - they almost sound alike to me. But, I am sure this is saxaphone then. This is a great and enchanting melody line of this great saxaphone with so much rhythms and a playful one. This is have given the audience in Montreal the feel of jazzy music, the powerful jazzy music especially at 3:39, the gentleness and softness can penetrate directly into your soul without even going near to it. Very melodioue and delicous, one of a kind in Jazzy Music. Great Musicianship and great plays."Surrender Now Reviewed by: piperon - 7/12/2005 "Great Soft Jazzy! I am truly surrender! Surrender to their wonderful and fabulous music. Another great and melodious track by the mystical and powerful band ONOFFON and this time it will capture your soul with the enduring harmonica sound. I did one track called JOYFUL SOUL with the harmonica sound too. But it is a more lively and happy track. Hope you will like it too. This is a slow jazz, and for the first time, I am hearing some vocal here. They asked you to surrender now - did you, yes I did!"Our sincere thanks to Piperon for taking the time to review our songs - sometimes, it's lucky to have one song reviewed - but, to move someone to take the time to sit and listen to so many in a row is truly wonderful...

The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a little unusual - this really isn't what I'd call a 'sanctioned' review but it is noteworthy to me.I was hanging out at one of my favorite eclectic haunts in L.A., with our new CD playing in the background. A filmmaker of my acquaintance was listening and commented on the music. "This sounds like a cross between Miles Davis and Chick Corea," he said, not knowing that he was listening to my group. Needless to say, that's about as good as comparisons get in my world....

Hey folks - I've been very busy - musically speaking - so the ONOFFON SSP of the Day has been put on a little hiatus - but here's a quick one -Remember that TAXI submission that went from Studio City to Calabasas by way of GREENFIELD, MA?Well - I just found out we got forwarded!!!! Thanks TAXI!Check out the listing -"JAZZ ARTISTS/BANDS wanted by TV Producer with several current hit shows to his credit, who is in the stages of developing a new reality show. He's looking for artists who have been in the business for a number of years (successful or not) and who have written at least one album's worth of songs. A recent photo and bio is a must (this is TV folks)! A snapshot is fine. Your bio can be informal and should say how long you have been in the biz, where you're from, personal and professional history, and anything else that you'd care to say. Recording quality doesn't matter but please submit at least three songs online or per CD/cassette. All submissions will be screened by a representative of the production company at TAXI on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY--NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. As always, we will notify those forwarded. Submissions must be received no later than June 23, 2005."Can you imagine ONOFFON on a reality TV show? What fun....

The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is the satisfying feeling one gets after playing a great gig the night before -We played a private party last night at a wonderful place in Topanga Canyon called The Inn of the Seventh Ray. Everyone had a wonderful time and it looks like more gigs will come as a result. One partygoer said we were the highlight of the evening. The gentleman who hired us was so pleased he paid us double what we asked... That's always a good sign...

Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is from Preying Lizard Music, home of Pirate Radio - they have featured us on thier Heads Up page, as well as featuring in their playlists - here's the link and the announcement of our new CD -Preying Lizard Music - Heads Uphttp://www.preyinglizardmusic.com/headsup.html"OnOffOn return with another great CD "Bridge To Presage". The first thing noticable about their third cd is the fact that there aren't any vocals this time around. They've also added four special guests to the band including Marcus Duke on piano, Glen Garrett on saxes and flute, Ron King on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Bob McChesney on the trombone. These additional musicians add to the band's sound in a big way. The recording and production are second to none, (nothing less was expected from this great Califonia band). On "Bridge to Presage" the band has evolved into a full blown Jazz band following the path of Weather Report, Chick Corea and Miles Davis. But hidden under all that jazz is the old OnOffOn that their fans love! Visit their site to learn more and purchase their great new cd!! Hear them on Pirate Radio."WOW!!!!! Our second comparison to Miles Davis and Chick Corea with a little Weather Report this time for good measure! Thanks to Preying Lizard Music, Pirate Radio, and Les Lewellyn for this wonderful review...

ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is a little advice from Great Britian on what we should do with our new release, Bridge to Presage. After leaving a review on our CD Baby page putting us in the company of Kenny Burrell and McCoy Tyner (*whew*), I thanked this gentleman from England for his kind words - this was his response to me -"That's OK. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. This is too good for the OMDs. You've GOT to persuade some label or other to promote this, and send it to every decent-quality film/TV production company in the States!"Well, we don't have a label - we have TAXI. Problem is, we need a listing that asks for something OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!!!That's a VERY popular catch phrase that you hear freakin' EVERYWHERE but does not apply to a music industry that perpetually promotes the status quo...Time to start - don't you think?
