Re: Country returns
OK, this is just my opinion. To me, Taxi is one tool in the box. You can't beat being in Nashville, networking and getting to know everyone in town. If you're REALLY good, you will get noticed and passed through the Nashville filtering system, until someday somebody in a better position than you will hear you and maybe offer you a publishing deal, or more likely, another writer will ask you to co-write with them. Many people that break through do it by writing a song with someone who already has a deal. Jennifer Adan is the most recent one who comes to mind. Her first cut "She Wouldn't Be Gone" was a #1 for Blake Shelton. She was unknown until then, but had been playing around town for several years. Her co-writer (who had a publishing deal) heard her when she was playing in the round one night and asked her if she would like to co-write with him. His publisher pitched the song, it got cut and she got to keep all her publishing since she didn't have one of her own. That would have been just about impossible to do without living there, or at least traveling there frequently. Taxi will give you access to listings that you couldn't submit to otherwise. Unsolicited material from an unknown nearly always winds up in the trash. Unless you can get to Nashville regularly and develop enough relationships on your own to open doors, chances are Taxi (or other sites that have similar services) will be your ONLY option.I've been to Nashville five times this year... not nearly enough. I am just now getting to where I have the ear of a few publishers, but I still have to write hits if I hope to get anywhere. That's the bottom line, whether you use Taxi or do it yourself.Bottom line: Do all you can yourself, and submit through Taxi whenever you can. You've got to take every opportunity that comes your way.Cam

Re: Country returns
I agree with this totally. I have never had a forward from Taxi and many of the songs I had returned, I have already landed a publishing contract with. Also, I have had success through Americansongspace.com and Broadjam.com already with songs that Taxi returned. With the addition of having to pay extra for "dispatch listings", that sealed the deal for me. I will not be renewing my membership.
