"Safe House" - short film I scored :)

Post by crystallions » Fri Mar 26, 2010 11:06 am

I recently scored a short film called "Safe House".

I used Omnisphere and Stylus for this score. I was very excited because while I have owned Omnisphere for a long time I have never been able to use it before because my old computer could not run it. I bought a new computer recently and now I can use it!!! :)

I used 16 instruments from Omnisphere and 11 from Stylus. I altered some and kept some like they were. I worked with expression as well as volume to weave sounds in and out to make it flow nicely.

I hope you enjoy it! :)

Great job, Lydia! I like the choice of it being an ambient score. It was very effective.

Thank you Steve! That means a lot!

At first I had planned to do an orchestral score (simply because that is what I am used to doing and the producer gave me free hands) but then I changed my mind. I am glad I did. I think this ended up being really fitting.

That was really, really cool! The picture quality was really superb. Must be a fancy new camera. The score was really effective. I liked how the kids breathing mixed in the high's of the music. Nice ambient score. Great job. Must have been fun!

Thank you Bryan! :) It was a lot of fun. I thought the producer did a great job making it scary and exciting up until the very end where the big surprise comes. He used a very nice new camera (think it gives specifics on the video page) I also like the way the breathing fits with the music. :)

Adonis - Thank you! :) I posted a link on FB and my mom wrote and told me she had watched it. She said that she sat there holding her breath wondering what kind of scary movies I was scoring nowadays...

Thank you Garett! :)

Really good Lydia. I had to watch it twice because I lost my focus on the music the first time, it was that perfect for the film. Great job.

Great job Lydia!! I love that you scored it from the child's perspective, how they get 100% into the game and make it like it could really be a scary thing but it's still playing.

Good orchestration with the different sounds, the voice/breath sounds at the beginning really evoke a ghostly, haunted feeling and the ups and downs in tension were well executed.

Fun stuff!!!!
