Yes, theotherchad, "Angie" is a real heartbreaker. Jagger's vocal is one of his most sensitive!
O.K. --- My favorite Beatles ballad of all time, with the best of ANY song introduction of all time:
"IF I FELL"
Hah! Try and top THAT ONE!

Well, Rev. Mojo, you have two votes on that one: My wife went nuts over your choice! She said "Mojo nailed it!" And my vote is --- "You nailed it!" Orbison, as you know, freaked out The Beatles with his stoic stage-manner, just standing there and SINGING like a bird! The Beatles learned alot from Orbison, by the end of their live performing careers.mojobone wrote:It's Over," Roy Orbison.

oooohhhh good one! Mine would probably be Golden Slumbers, despite the cheesey use of it in the Bee Gee's Sgt Pepper movie.eeoo wrote:Favorite Beatles ballad? How about She's Leaving Home?

Maybe not a rock song, but Marc Cohn does it for me with "True Companion"

We've had discussions before here about whether Kurt Cobain or John Lennon were more emotional is their vocals. I chose Lennon's "Well,Well,Well." Pretty hard to top. Neil Young's album "Tonight's The Night" is almost as raw. Cobain's vocals are chilling, though. "Nevermind" is probably in my top 5 of all time.
Love this stuff --- makes me feel GOOD, not depressed, like watching a movie that is so intense it stimulates your artistry!
Best,
Ern

Interesting that you mention how movies and music can inspire each other; it's one reason I'm a huge Scorsese fan.
