I'm really looking forward to starting a thread in this section of the forum!
If haft to wait a little bit more. Its my first year and i got a few forwards, and one reply.
I keep submitting, and have improved in allot of areas. If i could, i would stay a
member on taxi as long as possible. I never been so productive before. Working towards
a goal is the best motivator. The Taxi experience has been like being a part of a family,
and everyone on the forum is really helpful and great guys, and that is well needed in the
solitude life of composing. I hope to share a story here soon, till then ill get inspired by yours!

I signed a (first) deal this year due to a Taxi forward. I think it was in my 3rd year of membership. I did get an offer last year (so credit Taxi!) but contractually it wasn't a fit for me.

I'm currently in year 2... this early summer (2011) makes 3 years. Year one... lots of submissions, all returns...read feedback.... yeah they are pretty much on target with the feedback.

Keep writing, keep submitting, hit the rally, keep writing, keep submitting.... late in 2010 submit 2 songs, one gets a forward..... a few days later the president of an A-list library with quite a few TAXI writers signed, contacts me. We speak briefly and I send him 3 songs, including the one not forwarded... he signed all three of them in December 2010. He moved rather quickly to sign the songs.

Over the next several weeks... up to date, I have 2 more forwards and have not heard back.... one to a library in California, and the other is a hit show on MTV.... so I keep writing and submitting..... no need to set around and wait on anyone.

All the forwards were dispatch instrumental tunes.

Less than 24 hours after fwd, 3 song deal after 3 months of

Post by jrkocian » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:26 am

I have been a member for a little over 3 months now. I have submitted 14 songs, with 3 forwards.

I had a song forwarded to a publisher for a Contemporary Gospel Listing. Less than 24 hours after receiving notification of the forward, my phone rang with a name and number I did not recognize.

It was the company TAXI forwarded the song to. They said they wanted to sign the song and we chatted for about 45 minutes or so about life. I purposefully sought to find some common interest (outside of music) to not only develop but enhance a relationship.

Throughout the conversation we had some good laughs, and toward the end I was asked if I had any additional material. I sent them 2 additional songs, and I heard back within a couple of days that they also wanted those tunes.

I signed that 3-song deal, and now the publisher wants some of my original material in other genres I have written. It looks as though another 2-song deal may be coming shortly.

TAXI is an invaluable tool for writers and artists.

I already have excellent relationships with some industry people, and have had some degree of success with placements outside of TAXI, and I STILL feel TAXI is incredibly beneficial (more lines in the water = more chances of catching a fish!)

22 Months - 75 Submissions - 12 Forwards

Then came the first deal offer. It was about a month and a half after the forward.

For the first year and a half I was really trying to find my niche, improve my productions and learn the business.
It was in the last several months that things have started to click and my stuff has gotten to be "deal worthy".

I joined Taxi Feb 2011. I've submitted 28 tracks for 17 returns and 11 forwards.
About a week ago I got an email from a music library wanting to represent two of my songs, BUT the very good news is they want to hear more.
I have a catalog of stuff I think they'll like, so now that I have my foot in the door I feel certain I'll have many tunes placed with them. So for me it took about 5 months to get my first deal. Thanks Taxi.

A couple weeks ago I got a call from a music library. He told me he was going through some of his old Taxi submissions and ran across a tune of mine (Rim Ram). I hardly recognized the name (sometimes I change the name of a song just for a paticular submission). I called him up and asked if I could listen to the track, which I recognized. I looked through my old CD backups of tracks and finally located it under "60's Song". I sent him a good copy (had to remix it). I looked at the date of the session. I couldn't believe it, it was from 2003! It must be some kind of record! I wished he would've called me years ago, but at least he called and I'm working with him now. :D

Thanks Taxi

Kevin

I just keep on writing and recording. It's what I do 8-)

After lot's of returns, quite a few forwards and 5 publishing deals i got my first placement. Along the Journey is many mountains, rivers and valleys. Each one of those has it's ups and downs. The Mts are hard to climb but have the best views. The valleys are a great place to rest and revaluate and the rivers are like springs of life but can distract and sweep you away. I believe that i am on a life long journey, doing the very thing that i love, it's one of the reasons that makes me jump out of bed each morning. It has been 2 years with Taxi and i am looking forward to many more. Thanks guys for your feedback, information and Michael Laskow for the drive to help each one of us succeed.
2012 gonna be big........
steve
