I have noticed that Sweetwater has a mike stand adapter to hold an iPad.

Singers used to learn their lyrics, now they will just have to make sure they have their iPad and it's charged.

Mazz- thanks for the tip. iRealbook is super cool. Very convenient. As far as the rock type songs go...I think my best bet will be using the PDF reader and find some song collections via PDF. I can't seem to find any song book apps that aren't only worship songs. ( not that there's anything wrong with it )

I've been using evernote for a couple of years now. It really is the best "brain dump" app that I've seen. I use the desktop version, the iphone version and the ipad version all the time. And I have never come close to using up the free monthly allotment. So I've never paid a dime for this usefulness. I should be ashamed of myself. But I'm not.

At first, it seems like its just a big iPhone, but the experience is totally different. It's a computer. A really thin, really well designed computer. For consuming info, it's hard to beat. For creating, that's debatable but I think the barriers are starting to come down around that aspect. It's the app developers that are defining that. And they are getting really, REALLY good at it.

These pads (as they are about to become everywhere) are the next computers. They're little babies right now, but I think Apple has set the bar. For a no processing, no memory device it's incredibly responsive and extremely smooth as far as the user experience goes. And the battery life is really astonishing. I charge mine about once a week and use it a lot. I bought the wi-fi version, which turns out to be a mistake, it's a connected device by nature and really wants to be connected to the net to really shine, so I don't use it as much as I probably would if mine always had an internet connection.

But it's a blank slate, literally. Last week Omnisphere (Spectrasonics.net) released a major upgrade to their flagship synth. And it came with an iPad app that frankly redefines how you interact with synths. It's a true first. And it's pretty ass kicking.

And this sits on a version 1 of something that came out less than a year ago. I just yesterday downloaded the new "amplitube fender amp" and it sounds ridiculously good for living in a piece of glass in my hands.

Things are about to get very, VERY cool.

PS. Flipbook is hands down my most used app on the ipad. It's not music related, but it is, IMHO the best app going on the iPad. I'm surprised Apple hasn't bought them yet.
