Ride it Out
Hi everyone,
First time posting one of my songs on the forums. I'd love it if you could let me know what you think of this:
http://soundcloud.com/tessbeighton/ride-it-out
I think the vocals might still need a little work with the levels and such though...

Re: Ride it Out
Love it. To me the vocals where right too.
Perhaps the break was a lil long after the intro acapella and/or it didn't need the very quiet acoustic strum in the silence break here.
But that would really be clutching to make comment as feel I should offer something in reply.
All in all it works for me very very well!
Nice Tess!

Re: Ride it Out
Hey, Tess, welcome aboard
Man, the standard's getting high around here. This is a very good song, imo. Nice weight, balance and structure, tasteful accompaniment (nicely played too). I like your vox and I like the production too. My only nit is that the first punch of the chorus is missing. Maybe it needs to up the kick drum and acoustic and/or piano on that first note. The other alternative for me would be to drop everything out just before the chorus kicks in – to create a breath. Just needs to start a little more confidently, to my mind. Apart from that it's all good, well done. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to hearing more from you. I'll check some of your other stuff out when I have more time and energy.

Re: Ride it Out
Hi Tess, Got the new version.
Perhaps try losing the middle/leading intro strum, and just kick the first verse in at 0.2 (shift it al over a bar) Have a go if easy to try.

Re: Ride it Out
that a pretty cool song.
are you the singer?, the singer has something speical about her vocals, even the backing vocals sound great.
Big Sur, great song, always liked that track.

If it wasn't for the good souls, life would not matter

I'm not sure about this... the idea of dropping a whole bar kinda bugs me. What do people think of this:sedge wrote:Hi Tess, Got the new version.

Thanks! Yeah that's me, I'm on guitar in this one too. Usually I do everything though, most of the stuff on my soundcloud will be all me (drums and synths from a sampler that is). I wish I could do live drums, but they're so tricky and you need a tonne of equipment (not to mention a lack of neighbours!)ChristopherSwain wrote:are you the singer?, the singer has something speical about her vocals, even the backing vocals sound great.

Re: Ride it Out
heya Tess, my bad! A bar was a loose term. Essentially the idea was to try removing the passing strum before the song kicks in. So the last
word of the vocal intro hangs in the space before the start.
But as said, i was only clutching at something to comment on as it is fab as is!. And If i am the only one thinking this then brill.
Sorry if i have caused any doubt, great song and delivery with no doubt needed !

Ahh right, sorry I misunderstood what you meant. And don't worry, I'm not one to take offence easily to criticism. I'm rather critical myself. Speaking of which; A friend said "too much autotune". What do you think?sedge wrote:heya Tess, my bad! A bar was a loose term. Essentially the idea was to try removing the passing strum before the song kicks in. So the last
