New user curious about Taxi

Post by OmniPsyence » Thu Jun 02, 2011 1:24 pm

Hi everyone! I decided to register to this forum because I spent like 4 hours last night reading everything I could on this site and my curiosity can't be contained any longer. I'm an aspiring composer (of course) and I think I'm now at the level of being commercially marketable. However, as with many others, I'm in no position to move to any of those big music industry centers right now and I'd love to be able to get some work.

I look forward to posting here more often and becoming acquainted with the community as well as Taxi and its services. I'm not a member yet, but I hope to change that soon!

P.S. If anyone could take a look at what I'm doing currently and maybe give me some critique? I am working on an album right now and here's a track in pre-production stages. There will be vocals added to this song later, too.

Thanks!

Welcome.... it sounds good from a production standpoint.

Not my genre of music so I will defer commentary to someone who knows that genre.

You can post songs in the Peer to Peer forum and probably get more people listening and commenting.

Hi Cory,

Welcome to the forum...and soon to Taxi. It's a great organization with very savvy people.

Like Herb, I'm not familiar with that genre, but the production sounds good to me.

There's some smart folks over at Peer to Peer.

Good luck!
JT

Cory: Welcome! I clicked on your link. Then, I double clicked. And then (seriously) I triple clicked. And i did this both before and after I logged on to the site. Nothing. Nada. Try posting the link on peer to peer, and see what happens. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the welcome folks. I appreciate it!

Ott, strange that it doesn't work! Maybe try right-clicking then "save target as" or something along the lines of that. Either way, it's no big deal. I'll try to post something in the peer review forum, as well as contribute with my own crits. I seriously can not wait to join Taxi, I hope to become a member very soon (within a month or two!).

Cory: I'm pretty computer illiterate, but I tried again. Got some pop-up box, asking me if I wanted to do whatever. Whenever I see these boxes, I press the "X" to delete, because I'm worried about viruses. In your case, your tune all of sudden popped up. Frankly, by this time, even though the first several bars sounded good, I was too ticked to listen further. My point here is that your link, somehow, has a flaw. If you are wondering why you're not getting any responses, well, here you are. I'll repeat: people here will respond to you. Please repost on the peer to peer forum, and see if your link works any better. My best wishes to you.

Very well, I'll take your advice to heart. Thank you for your time and especially for your greetings.

Thank you, Stuart! I'll post a proper critique thread in hopes of more responses. I'll also be glad to reciprocate any crits.

This place seems like a great forum.

Welcome!
I think the track is very contemporary and fresh, it could certainly work in action scenes, club scenes and alike.
It's well produced, but the only thing I thought of that didn't sound that good was the brass.
There's no dynamic and it also felt that every note played had the exact same velocity.
