Hey Vince -

Looks great. I like the clean design. It's really easy to navigate and find out what you're looking for. I also appreciate the lack of bells and whistles.

Nice work.

cheers

Hey Vincent
It looks very nice. :D I think you should review the text sections for clean up on the writing-- grammar, punctuation, word usage, etc. Sometimes it's worth getting another set of eyes with solid writing skills to take a peek. (That's not an insult. As with music, we always need a fresh look from the outside)...

For example:
I strive to always work hard to guarantee your satisfaction!
I don't think you mean you STRIVE to work hard, hopefully you DO work hard.

You used exclamation points a lot- probably way overused.

It's worth getting some help with content editing.

Good luck with it!
:) Casey

The design is good, the photos are good, and the layout is good - congratulations!

I would do what Casey said. I can also suggest some improvements that help with the user 's flow through the site but I'm heading out on vacation.

If you want, shoot me a pm here and I'll send it along next week.

Vince,

I agree with what's been said. My two cents will be about the color palette...

Range of colors are balanced.
Color scheme is easy on the eyes.
Font type, size and color are not overdone.
And I like the "speaker mesh" background.

I was going to use that "look" on my site, but when I saw the finished photos, the holes were just too large. Yours look good. I ended up going a different direction. Anyway, have a great day and I wish you the best with your music!

The site looks nice, easy to navigate, etc. To be honest, I think the text needs to be rewritten. There are *lots* of grammar and punctuation issues, enough to make it worthwhile rewriting rather than fixing/editing. FWIW, here's a few examples...

The text is in both first person narrative and third person narrative. Would probably be more consistent to go with either one or the other. Curiously, the "About Vincent" starts with "Allow me to introduce Vincent Pace". Who's "me"? Are you introducing yourself or is the guy that designed the site introducing you? Something like "Introducing Vincent Pace" might be better, would flow better with the third person narrative that follows.

You could/should probably remove all of the exclamation marks. In the paragraph that stars with "As a composer", every sentence in that paragraph ends with an exclamation mark. That's like four in a row and there's two in a row in the paragraph preceeding that one.

There's little typos here and there (like Cd instead of CD). Also you use "&" instead of "and" here and there. For example, a sentence like...
After composing, producing, and performing on two of his CD's: 'Vinnie Pace Both Sides', a mix of jazz & easy listening music; & 'Lullaby For The Soul', a collection of meditative type pieces; Vincent had the honor of having his Spiritual Suite performed live in Kiev, Ukraine, as well as in Toronto, Canada!
There's just too much in there to fix. There's other things elsewhere, punctuation, grammar, like using "your" when it should be "you're", that kind of thing.

Anyway... I think you'll have a great site. It takes a lot of work and thought as to what we say. I would take another run at the text and like others have said, doing that with another pair of eyes is always best. We can never see our own mistakes for some reason. I've stared at stuff that looked perfect to me only to have some other person look over my shoulder and say "You misspelled the word...". Happens all the time.

Good luck!

Dave

Hey Vincent,

great looking site!
Really like the colours, photos, clear layout, etc... and the city you're in ain't bad either. ;)

Not sure if you feel the same way... I think the large fonts are great, clear, easy to read, but, depending on screen settings, they also force people to scroll around a fair bit. I'd try to get as much of your main text/content visible without having to scroll down, just based on all the research about people having no attention span when visiting sites.
For example, on the About page, move the text up and bring the photo down or shrink it and shift it over to the right, underneath the page links.

As Dave said... I can pick out what I'd do with your site, but my work in progress of a site that still looks like it was designed in Word ain't exactly something to brag about so far... I guess it's do as I say, not as I do...:)

While I was visiting, I also listened to a few tracks... great music!

Cheers!
Roland

Vincent...

Your site looks good, but it has no clear purpose. All the best colors and text in the world mean absolutely nothing to the people who will visit your site. Everyone here will tell you nice things because they like you and certainly understand how much work is involved in building websites.

Answer these 4 questions:

1) Why did you build this website?

2) Who is this website built for?
a you
b your kids,
c other composers
d or people who might license or buy your music

3) What is the most important thing you want from people to do when they visit your site?

4) In your wildest dreams, who (the exact person) would you like to attract with this website more than anyone else in the entire world?

Thanks KC, Casey, Anne, GDMusic, Dave, Roland, & Sgs4u, you have all given me much to think about, and clearly much work to do! Your input is truly appreciated! Some excellent points that I will incorporate in the re-building of this site!

If there are any other points you wish to make, please fell free to share!

Thanks again to all of you! :)

Cheers,
Vincent!

hahaha, Vincent, you beat my post by a few minutes...:)

Steve's absolutely right in terms of the thought that should go into any website.

I do disagree, though, in that I think your site's exactly where it should be right now. The launch of your site should only be the beginning of where you want to end up with it. If you eventually feel like it, there are books like Call to Action or Bob Baker's books, depending on what you want to get from the site and your online presence. There isn't a website out there that's perfect, and it's always a work in progress.

Ultimately, I think for most people, a website's still just a shiny business card and place online to call home, that hopefully keeps them motivated to continue doing what they're doing and to tell the world about it, and that gives any visitors the sense that one is serious and professional.

I could be wrong, but I thought the purpose of your website was pretty clear, i.e., it's a place where you've put music and info about what you do, and it makes you excited enough to share it with other people, i.e., friends, family and clients. Perfect...

Bit by bit, though, you definitely want to consider the great feedback people have given you here, make adjustments, and start considering if there's something more you want from the site, etc.

Since I don't really know you yet, this is my honest opinion and not simply me being nice. :)

All the best!
Roland
