Upload a photo to photobucket and it'll get a url. Then go to profile (top of the page), modify profile, and put the url into the 'avatar url' box.To put in text, again profile, modify profile, and type the text into the 'personal text' box.

Hello everyone. I am a newbie. I have been looking for a place to work on my songwriting. I hope to hear some of your music in the near future. I am having a devil of a time with this computer and will be replacing it soon enough. I can view lyrics but this thing has some sort of blocker on it that won't let me view all lyrics. Glad to meet you and happy writing- Sam

HiNewbie here, but, unfortunately, not at much else.Been there, seen it and done a lot of it.I've lurked at Taxi on and off for many years and always thought it was an amazing resource and felt like I should contribute.I'm an ex-music lawyer, an artist manager, an erstwhile indie record label owner, and now, primarily a manager of songwriters and producers. I do have other interests both in and outside the music industry, but won't bore you with them here - unless you ask!I have lately become massively interested in the vast power of the internet for artists & musicians and the awesome potential in harnessing it's promotional power - perhaps a little later than some. I do though also still believe that the death of the record company model is still some way off. We're at a stage where many aspiring artists are being fed the information that they can do it all themselves and that record deals are bad. This is only one side of the story. DIY is great and the future will reveal some amazing self-driven musical success stories, but don't give up on the old school yet - it can still work for artists. What I unhappily find these days though is that new artists think that it is all about that marketing power and they forget to learn how to develop their talent and learn to be good - because that's the root to true success. That's my mindset and I'll be around to throw my two cents in. Not as much as some I'm sure, but I'm around - even if you can't see me!Ian

Hi this is Alan, Hope you all are doing well. After years of playing bass in bands I got fed up with almost making it cause the others really weren't into making it. I spent the past year or so trying to get my guitar playing a lot better and have bought everything I need, Logic 8, interface, added yamaha keyboard that has midi, got a Mac Book Pro, so I am all set.Have been playing for 20 plus years and have written poems, story's and songs for most of them. Now I am trying a go of it on my own!I do have one question that I can't seem to find here, kind of comes from writing stories and articles. Whe I write a song I like to put it on myspace, Facebook, etc to get feedback. Is it okay to do that with songs that I write if I am going to sell them? With writing a lot of places don't want them to have been "published" even putting it on the web somewhere a lot of places won't take it. Is that the same for music and Taxi submissions? Thanks for the help.
