Hot off the press! another return!

the enigmatic "recording" box ticked off. Anyone have any opinions why?

I'm not sure why this would get a return. It sounds equally as good as the forwards I've heard. Mine was returned as well with recording checked and info added saying the drums were holding the performance back. :( After hearing the forwards I kind of agree but that doesn't stop the disappointment.

Hey !
Mine was returned too. They said not enough reverb on the guitar and the drum groove wasn't surf. I kinda agree about the drums but I disagree about the reverb.
Enough of my whining ;)
I listened to your track and the only things I noticed was the guitar track was probably too dry. The drums were a bit dry too. The tom rolls were a bit too " out front " so to speak.
Your performance was top notch as usual, I think it just came down to production. Original surf music is drowned in reverb and mud and we went too clean.

Rich.

:(

the recording sounds pretty good to me.
If that's not good enough I'll never get a forward for sure.
Discouraging.

Hey Andy - Cool tune, great pickin'. Something about the drum fills sounded a bit awkward to me, like they weren't transitioning back into the groove very smoothly. That's all I got.

If that were the case, I'm thinking, the "performance" box should be checked, as opposed to "recording". Kind of confusing, in a way. But I guess that is the nature of "Y" listings.

I guess I used up all my weekly ration of reverb on the 80's rock thing!

thanks all for the comments. I will check those drum fills.

That is one issue I have with Y listings. its hard for me to figure out what those 3 little tick boxes really mean.

so I take it that "recording" means recording / sound quality / mix / master?

I wouldn't try and interpret it, I'm a proponent of a simple yes or no, the boxes just raise questions.

Agreed. Sounds like quite a few really nice tracks got returned on this listing, and who knows why. Listening to all the forwards, I'd say maaaaybe they were looking for high-energy, tremolo-picked guitar and pretty-wet sounds.

But frankly, who knows. This is a cool track, and I don't doubt you'll be able to get it placed someday.
