Re: Just a request.
Well, they started, like I said, on my legs today. With the combo of legs and head, as well as Interferon tonight, I imagine I'm gonna feel bright eyed and bushy tailed on the morrow. It did suck quite a bit of juice out of me today. Whew!!
I shall wipe every tear from their eyes....

Hey, Walt.My Dad's just starting his fourth round of Chemo (leukemia). We weren't able to be anywhere near him (Mom and Dad retired to Hot Springs, AR back in '93) for Thanksgiving, and it's been tough on all of us.You are in my prayers. Just think about that Red Velvet Cake Squiddie mentioned, and you'll be carried away for a little while.Ted

Sorry. My fault for confusing my two favorite southern belles. I was just so overwhelmed reading about Red Velvet Cake. Without question, My FAVORITE cake on earth and ALWAYS what I requested for my birthday cakes as a kid growing up; and I haven't tasted one in WELL over 15 years.Walter, when you're feeling better, I will find a way to share a slice with you...so help me. Even if I have to ship it to you. (Chits, I may need to borrow that recipe...)Ted

Re: Just a request.
I do like Red Velvet Cake! But, my favorite cake that I request for my B-day is home made, from scratch, Carrot Cake. I can feel my arteries clogging with but the thought of a slice.I really like Cheese cake, too. Tia Maria's my fav' there. A good cup of Jo tops 'em both off nicely. The treatments're really hitting me today. I'm barely able to walk my legs hurt so bad. I keep nodding off here at the computer, too. Feels like somebody tied led to my arms and legs. I can't see very well, either. Ya know, I'm starting to worry a bit as to how much damage this stuff has done. I'm seein' & hearin' things, which accompanies my poor balance rather well . Oh, yeah. I hate to do this (I'm thinkin' about the whole situation with me and m'bride). But, anybody do much shoppin' on-line. If so, holler at me. And I've got mice in the house to catch and get rid of. Geez!! I'm too stinkin' soft hearted to kill 'em. So, I have live traps. I catch 'em and then have to take 'em somewhere to let 'em go.

Re: Just a request.
Anybody else had radiation therapy? I'm just curious. Since they started on my legs, I've been feeling nauseous and really weak. The assistants say it couldn't be the radiation. Funny how it started when it did, then.By the by, no one that's treating me here has ever seen ECD. So, how do they know how I'm gonna react?!!

Re: Just a request.
Hey, Walter. Was thinking about you this morning. Sorry to hear these treatments are kicking your ass so seriously, but I'm not really surprised to hear it. My Dad usually takes a week or more to feel even close to "recovered" from his last chemo session, and usually by then, he's only a day or so away from the next round. From the sound of it, I guess I should be thankful he's not going through radiation.I'm sorry to ask you to do any extra typing, but my parents are so determined to put on a happy face that they really don't tell me/my sisters/"US" any real details. But...How is chemo different from radiation therapy, or IS it? You may want to PM me if you have the energy to reply. And if you don't, you're more than welcome to tell me to F*** off. I promise, I'll understand. Your strength and genuine bravery continue to be such an inspiration to me and SO many of us here on the boards. thank you again for letting us inside.Ted

So, how do they know how I'm gonna react?!!I didn't have rads but have been with many a girl who has, Walt. Are you still taking the Interferon? I'm wondering if your system is tanking a bit with all the treatments. Anyone checked your blood levels lately? Symptoms sound a bit like anemia........something to consider. You taking vitamins? And your doc should be able to give you something for the nausea. It's no fun. The aural hallucinations I've heard of in cases of brain rads, something about messing with the neural pathways to the cochlea in the ear.I shop online a lot (around christmas anyway) so if you need help, you jes PM me at your leisure, swee'pea.Lovin' on ya,Squids

Re: Just a request.
Here you go, Walter, Squiddy and Ted.....this is a great recipe for Red Velvet Cake that I got from the Food Network. It comes pretty close to my Meemaw's (that's 'granny' down South) recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes ... 79,00.html

Hmm, doesn't look like the link above is working properly....maybe y'all can piddle around with it like it says to do. When I have more time, I can just type out the recipe if the link stays messed up. Here is a related link that will work.....it's for those folks wanting to know more about this quintessential Southern dessert.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_velvet_cake
