Equator D5 Monitors? = Got 'em!

Post by jazzstan » Sat Sep 22, 2012 5:09 pm

Has anybody checked out the Equator D5's????

Price is good, review is rave, and money-back deal is attractive.

Thoughts anyone????

Thanks for posting Stan, I'd not heard of these but sounds like you can't lose. Might have to check'em out...

I heard the high end Equators at the AES show a few years ago and was pretty impressed. The nice thing about coaxials is the lack of phase issues between drivers.

I think you can't lose with this deal. It's always great to have a secondary monitor reference and these would be a really nice step up from regular computer speakers (which are also good to have as a reference, btw!) for secondary reference.

I'm not sure they have the bass extension to be primary monitors but with a money back guarantee, it's a no=brainer to at least try them out!

Cheers!

Probably worth a punt . All the dual concentrics ive heard certainly have great phase response (tannoy are more or less the standard at these) . Let us know how you get on .

Only limited testing so far, but they are nice and clear - better mid-range definition than my JBL 4206's, which always sounded a bit muffled, and now moreso versus the D5s. The placement of instruments in the stereo field is very well defined compared to what I'd been hearing before. Bass is punchy. With the port on the front, it mitigates the back-wall reflections of the JBLs.

I think these will be keepers.

I just bought a set of these myself. Price and reviews made them too good to pass up.

If I remember the Tape Op review these have a definite break-in period. Should sound even better after a few weeks.

Congrats!
