TAXI Road Rally 2012 Wrap Up and Thoughts

Post by mazz » Mon Nov 12, 2012 9:38 pm

Hi foks,

Back home now from Road Rally 2012. I'm seeing on FaceBook that people are getting home safely.

It was an awesome Rally this year and I gathered my thoughts in a blog post. I hope you read it and comment on it there or here.

So great to see everyone and for those that I didn't, for whatever reason, get to meet this year, I sincerely hope we can meet next year.

Cheers!

Mazz

Thanks, John! You listed 9 of my goals ;)

It's al about focus and writings like this help me to stay focussed. We (my wife and I) will be there at the next rally!!! We already budgeted the money. We're from the Netherlands so it's expensive. I read so much good things about the rally, it's going to be worth it.

John,
I'm so glad you posted-I was so bummed for not making the trip this year.
The Rally and TAXI have changed my life as well and If I ever regret anything is not
joining TAXI earlier. Michael Laskow is a class act in EVERY way and the success of his
company reflects many years of hard work and dedication.
The panel that you participated with all our friends must have been a total blast!
All of you are successful because (much like Michael Laskow) you 'do the work'.
'Doing the work' does not mean just writing great music. It encompasses all those other
things that you've mentioned in your blog post. The TAXI business model and offspring
of successful writers make an undeniably powerful team. They all benefit from each other!

Continued success to you and hopefully I'll see you sooner than later. I'm budgeting already!
cheers
Adonis

Hear, Hear, Mazz!

The Rally was a huge turning point for me three years ago and it continues to inspire, reinvigorate, and reinforce the idea that this is a people business - and relationships count for way more than we often give credit.

Thanks everyone for such a great weekend! See you next year.

cheers

This was my first Rally and absolutely the best weekend I've had... ever. (don't tell my wife, she thinks it was our wedding)
It was great to meet forum-ites in person (my wife got to meet Kayle first, though)
There were so many things I learned at the Rally that would have taken months and years to learn otherwise. My brain feels somewhat scrambled.
What impressed me most was how "real" and absolutely caring and sincere everyone was, from the knuckle-walkers like me to the pros at the peak of this industry.
Seeing Michael's overwhelming caring and genuine love for everyone was an inspiration.

Awesome blog post Mazz.
Those 9 items sound spot on.

This weekend was absolutely transformational for me.
The warmth I have always experienced on the forum carried over to meeting everyone in person.
The sessions were outstanding. Wish I could have caught more of them. But I will next year.
So much positive energy in one building was very invigorating and I'm anxious to get back into the studio :)

Great Blog post and spot on thoughts Mazz. Bravo!

...it's always great to hang with you (and my other Taxi friends) at the Rally and I always walk away either learning something new or reaffirming what I have been trying to put into practice.

You are not only a great composer and musician, you have a gift of articulating concepts and steps to success in the misic biz that help the rest of us "get it." ...you are a great teacher and I thank you for being willing to share what you know with all of us over the years.

...can't wait until we can hang again.

:-)

Hi John,

Great to see you (as always!), and thanks for that incredibly well articulated blog. I've got to say, for me, this was the best time I've ever had at the Rally, but I DO regret being so busy that I couldn't spend more time in the bar area hanging with members. The ballroom panels consumed most of my time, and when I wasn't moderating, I was either trying to grab a meal or get ready for the next panel.

I wish every single TAXI member would just follow the points you've laid out!

Thanks!!
Michael

It's like your blog was a typed transcript of my notes from the 5 Year Plan Panel. Thanks for all the Panelists for sharing such great information! I think it's cool that each year at the Rally I see certain themes emerge from the start, and then they are repeated throughout the weekend. This year was no exception. And now for following all your good advice...,

Thanks,
Lauren Dayton

Awesome Mazz. It was a great Rally for me to reconnect and get plugged back in. I don't know why, but I had forgotten how incredible the Rally in terms of positive support and community love. I've been missing that. Great to see you Mazz, great to meet you Dean. Will look forward to a great year full of success for everyone!
