I thought her presentation was the best of the day.

Have you read Forty-Minute Work Week? Some Pakistani kid could probably update for you for the price of a latte a day...(j/k)

Not anymore. In another six months, it's supposed to be four minutes.

I'm still wrestling with the fact that we probably won't have any newspapers before long.

Re: Facebook-Twitter-Myspace Juggle
I manage all the SN for our artist clients and I do find it a headache to keep up with the myriad sites that we end up having a presence on.But, the most important thing to remember is that you ought to be driving traffic (or ‘fans’ as they used to be called) back to your own site, which should have a very regularly updated blog element. We do use whatever tools we can to keep posts appearing on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter – normally a short excerpt of a blog post from our site with a link back to the blog post on the artist’s own site. We mostly use ArtistData for this but there are a load of tools that will deal with most sites – MySpace excepted. We also force our artists to tweet as much as they can bear – which drives a steady stream of traffic back to their site/ blog. Don’t underestimate Twitter – it really does give real time traffic boosts. We also love YouTube, Pandora and last.fm. YouTube is awesome – fans really do love to see their band doing anything – even if it’s a 30 sec clip of them kicking or throwing a football after rehearsal. Again – always post on your blog with the YouTube video embedded and tweet it as well as putting on your YouTube channel, and bulletining it on MySpace.Pandora and last.fm, lastly, need to be used to build awareness. I love Pandora – done right it actually creates sales based on that pure listener reaction to new music. In short, blog all your stuff and use the SN broadcasting as a way to drive people back to your site where you control the mailing list sign-up, the sales of music and merch and the total environment. It is a nightmare and takes a lot of organising but it does build a fanbase.

It's definitely a great topic for the Rally! Don't know if you guys are aware of http://www.artistdata.com. I found it through a fan, it's actually really helpful, especially for touring artists but even just for Blogs and status updates, it makes things a bit easier. To me it looks like the biggest ones are Twitter/Facebook/Myspace/Youtube/Reverbnation and Ilike.PS: Yes I have read the Four Hour Workweek. I better read it again xXxJVB

Re: Facebook-Twitter-Myspace Juggle
I built my website, www.thewritesongcourse.com after reading the four hour work week. And have heavily marketed on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, etc... Also, I was recently contacted by someone involved with a project doing world music about contributing. He said the guitarist for Robert Plant would be on the album. Unfortunately I can't contribute since my computer had a small internal fire and won't be up and recording for a while. Oh the opportunities that slip through a person's hands in a lifetime.
