Shooting for Hippie song era CSNY

I do think it's a really cool song and I love your music.

Seems like I'm the lone dissenter here. Listening again. I still think the harmonies don't have that CSNY vibe throughout. When you sing "Memory you must HIDE", "HIDE" sounds much more Bee Gees than CSNY. It could be that the falsetto high harmonies are too prominent and sound too forced.

I love the solo vocal passages that sound very Stephen Stills.

I'm sure you've done what I'm about to suggest but I would A/B listen to CSNY (especially their first 2 albums were are classic great ones).

It's also possible that the production and guitar sound is a little too clean for the era.

If you feel that strongly that the screener is wrong here, maybe you should write to Taxi. I know you said you have another re-screen in the queue and therefore are hesitant.

Hey Juan - This is an interesting one. For me it ticks all the boxes but something about it doesn't match the vibe of the ala's overall. I'm sorry I can't be more specific. I would have probably forwarded it because technically it's a fit but if I heard it in a scene and it was supposed to evoke authenticity I don't know how effective it would be. Still, very well done and as you know I'm a huge fan, just my humble 2 cents.

Hey Juan,

I'm a little late here and as usual you nailed it performance wise.

What struck me was more the vocal production.
CSNY vocals had less attack and a smoother compression.
They probably sang further away from the mic so the attack wasn't as pronounced.
Also the vocals felt warmer and the saturation wasn't as noticeable as your vocals.
I would tone down the bk vocals a little more and leave the lead vocal as is.
I think that would help soften it.
Also if you can't adjust the compression on the bk vocals try using a transient plugin to shave off the attack.
That will help and it will make the bk vox sit back in the mix.
