But I haven't listened to a whole lot of country songs (so don't feel slighted). I also love Cam's "Lucky", though I see where it might not be what Nashville folks want these days. CaseyAwww thanks! I've got to find a way to be there. Casey, is your suitcase still available? lol

Re: TAXI Nashville/Country Panel June 8th, 2009
One thing that's happened to me lately.....this trip to Nashville isn't gonna make or break me. I have no prob with Perry saying his piece.....I know it means a lot to him. For me, this trip to Nashville comes at a time when I'm branching out in different direction. I am veering away from commercial country, and I'm just writing what I enjoy....thus my future You Tube project. I know that it won't make me any money, but that's okay. My focus is starting to change. So I'm not expecting anything other than to meet my fellow TAXI members and have a good time....and if someone listens to my song and says, 'hey, not bad, it's got potential,' then that will just be icing on the cake. And if they say, 'this truly SUCKS," it won't bother me because being a TAXI member, we've all been seasoned to critiques by now. My stuff might not be played as well, and that's fine.....there only so many slots (and time) to go around....I'm just typing off scenerios. And PLUS, Michael Laskow is just so nice to do this for us all.....he's gone to a lot of trouble, so I will be there for that alone. If someone gives you a gift, I think you should graciously accept it, but I won't fault those who don't....I just think it's a magnanimous gesture. I gotta be realistic.....there are thousands of excellent writers in Nashville....it's like going into a shoe store.....the prettiest shoes are gonna stand out. Those are the ones that will be purchased. My shoes look really nice....but do people wanna purchase them over a shoe they're madly in love with?. That's the way a country artist picks his material, I'd guess....just like that pair of shoes. And that panel is gonna know if your shoes are Jimmy Choos, beautiful....you all know that anyway. (that was similar to one of ML's analogies not too long ago)Okay, I'm rambling.

Specific artists have their own style and maybe our song didn't fit those styles. I did think, however, when the song got 8's and 9's and was on target for the listings that were for indie publishers who were supposedly looking for a variety of songs in the style of a variety of artists, the song was perfectly forwardable (if that's a word). ClaireYeah, I admit I also disagreed with that return, but I wanted to stick with the ones that other industry players who knew the artists styles VERY well thought were worthy or "maybe" worthy of the pitch. Again, this is the first time I've expressed disagreement, and I did so to be honest with Michael and help set this thing up the way he planned it. So do not expect me to be running around here shouting about non-forwards or critiques, etc. Been around here a good while and that's not what I do. It seemed fair to go ahead and concede some disagreement for the purpose of the "Nashville Reality Check."

Verse 1Jeffrey Steele told me my song suckedOnly because I didn't reference my truckHe cut it off at the first chorusSo now I'm S**T out of luck Next part of the verse anyone? If Mr. Steele is reading, no offense whatsoever, I dig your songs....I'm just trying to write something humorous.

Amen to that. Glad you're going to be here, Perry. Can hardly wait to meet all of y'all. Sure am sorry I don't have a decent demo of "One Step Removed" to toss in the "pick my song" playbox. But really, WHO CARES?? Just the chance to meet these folks in a more intimate, focused setting will be amazing. Ted

I have a wonderful demo because of these folks generosity, they collected funds for it when I was diagnosed....I took the money, and I ran with it.I'm betting that if every member on this board were to chip in 10 bucks, (or even five or one) you'll end up in Nashville.

I love ya for it but sadly you'd have to raise it by about 500 for it to cover the cost. And even if you would, there's no way I would accept it. I'm just not that way. I'll keep searching for deals and hope for the best!! Like I said before, if it's meant to be, it will happen. If not, maybe someone can get my song played and let me know what's said?
