Thank-you for all of the responses on this thread (and the PMs). You've really helped me gather my thoughts on this subject. I felt embarrassed about posting all of this at first but this wonderful community has come through for me with its support and wisdom.

Thanks Michael, I'm really trying to look at this as a potential WIn-Win situation.
Mark Kaufman wrote:There are a lot of excellent production people who have everything in their arsenal except a good voice...which is usually the most important element of a recording. So yeah, instrumental wonders abound in the TV/Film market, and they keep wanting great songs with vocals.

It's worth co-ownership to a lot of independent music creators/producers if they can depend on getting great vocal tracks right out of the gate when needed. This is where that networking thing comes in handy.
I understand what you're saying. I've been trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to do the whole thing myself here...like many of you. So now, I'm gonna stop "banging my head on that wall", and concentrate on what I can actually achieve. ;-)

The other thing that lead me to think about this entire issue was:
At one point, I lost my singing ability completely for a while. I had a thing happen where half my face wouldn't move at all. I even had to blink my eye (on that side) by closing my eyelid with my hand. The doctor told me that I may end up staying that way. I started to grieve the loss of my singing voice. The thought of never singing again made me realize that it was a gift that I was thankful for.

Sturat...that last comment you made was the all in all truth of the matter and touched my heart deeply,,Singing with a whole heart is a gift ,an instrument to be heard,, a release of emotions is accomplished when you feel what you want to sing..
I have written many lyrics but I can only sing the ones that I have a strong emotional connection with..not saying they sounded good,,but I heard the music in my head....

It sounded like you had Bells Palsey,,My sister had that,,made one whole side of her face droop like she had had a stroke ,,but it was an infection I think in a nerve in her face,,she got all better...Happy to hear you did too,,Your voice sounds great..

Blessings

Hi Stuart,
Are you still looking? I have a great concept album, titlled "The Life & Opinions of Dern Slohe"
There are twelve songs in the first CD, and other 10 written for the follow up CD. They contain pictures from the life and good times of a western small rancher and perceptive cowboy, alias Dern Slohe.
For each song, there is a : lead sheet, instrumental vocal guide, instrumental version, vocal guide(just melody on piano and click), and the complete accompaniment to record to.
What you'd need to do is to track the vocals at 92k-24 (preferably) or 44.1k-24 (minimum)
The songs are: 4 ballads (one in waltz time), and the rest rocking/dance/upbeat country, in a variety of styles.
These are fully produced, "broadcast quality" accompaniments.
If you think this might be a project that would work for you, contact me and I'll send you a link so you can look over the songs.
Best Always,

Stuart, do you using gravitate toward fantasy/sci-fi? I write notebooks of lyrics in this category, but they don't always work with our band.

We could try working in some of my lyrics to your electronic music...

Cheers,

thesongcabinet wrote: Great vocals is a commodity in demand, and you are as p.r.o. as anyone featured in the links above, Stuart (except when you change lyrics.. heheh, you had that coming  ).
Stuart: Magne made the point (important to me) for me. As much as I like to sing and have fun in the studio, I know my limitations...and that my songs will NEVER sound radio/CD quality until I collab/hire/whatever with a voice that will get my stuff taken seriously. Therefore, I'm tempted to beg/borrow/steal to buy the membership
(wish I could) JUST to take you up on your free offer.

I can sing my demo track so that the phrasing and stuff is where I'd want it; but then need the skills and chops of a real singer who is willing to simply replace my track (not change it... heheh, you had that coming  ditto...).
And: not every singer... even pros... are willing to sing Gospel-friendly lyrics; I'd need someone for whom that is not an obstacle.

Cheers, :D
