My thinking is, (Hector used to know me as the Little Sister of Sherlock Holmes : Observation-Deduction-Conclusion) is that Pistorius Girl Friend would have been just as much aware of Intruders in South Africa.

And afraid just the same.

So if she needed to go to the Bathroom in the night, she would have probably put the lights on. And she would have heard Pistorius approaching the Bathroom, and say : "is that you ? It is me !!" or something like that.

After that, one wonders why that night at all ? It cannot be a unique occurrence that she gets up to go to the Bathroom, yes ?
Why did it scare Pistorius so much on that particular night ?

And Pistorius, he himself would perhaps never go the Bathroom at night, because of the trouble of putting his artificial legs on ?
But if sometimes he did, would he put the lights on ? Would he awake his Girl Friend in the process ? Would he carry a personal Gun to the Bathroom ? ... she would know.

So this all this excuse of being scared of Intruders is not very convincing.
