So YOU'RE the other person I heard about? I heard rumors, But I didn't believe them. (My online name until last year was OS9osaur)
Let me guess, you drive a Citroen, too?

Honestly, I'm still pissed that I had to go out and spend a coupla thousand dollars to do EXACTLY the same things I was already doing. Ugh.
Digital. The big Lie.
Not sure that I am understanding you, dear UncBilly ... :o ;)
Yea, was gonna say he's just joking Dear Catherine...as he was!
And, it was pretty funny too :D 8-)
Not making fun of your plight, you know I'm kinda in the same boat! I will be able at some point to get a new browsing puter... but I'll have to rob myself of other things to get it, but that's nothing new for me. Already have cut out some lunches here and there just to have submission money.
So, I understand your troubles very well.
Like I said...at least stick around here, til something comes along to help your situation.....and it will, you have to hope. That's what's good about life, it can't ever steal your hopes. Many things it can, but NOT hope
Best wishes

Dear Catherine, Sorry for the cryptic nature of my comment.
My point was that its' rare to find anyone still using Mac OS 9, as it hasn't been supported by Mac since, like maybe 2004? People made fun of me online until about two years ago for still running OS9. they'd say "Oh, you're the ONE person still running OS9."

Since running OS9 is kind of a rare, quirky thing, which very few people appreciate, I likened it to owning a Citroen, which is also kind of a rare quirky thing which very few people appreciate. ;)

Oh I see, dear Bill,

But my Apple Mac is only 6 years old ! :o :) And a Citroen DS would be well over 20 years old.

Beside everything else works with the Firefox that I have, that I could update last year : Yahoo - Google - Bing - TAXI - YouTube - Vilmeo - Daily Motion - WordPress - Blogger - Ipernity - Humanity Healing - OM Times Magazine - CD Baby - FaceBook - Twitter - Linkedin -

Shall I continue the List ?

So I shall say it again : stupid SOUNDCLOUD !! ( third time now ;) )

I am going to call a Friend of mine who is very knowledgeable with all matters concerning the Apple Macs, etc.

Thank you for trying to help, dear Bill.

Yea, unfortunately in today's computer world, everything becomes obsolete in 5-7 years. It's tough on people with limited financial resources. :( :(

Warmest regards,
Casey
Oh thank you so much for your Consideration and your warmest regards, dear Casey.
This is so kind of you.

Catherine, Maybe it's different here in the US, but I bought 3 G4 700s for about $40US each from a college 8 years ago. I gave one away last week. Def check out freecycle or the freegle. At this point, those machines will be free if you look around.

I haven't read the Soundcloud requirements, but if it's simply compatibility with any OSX (tiger, etc) then I'm betting you could pick up a compatible machine for free and ust use it for internet and keep your old machine as your music/memories machine. Then you slowly migrate your personal stuff into the new machine and keep your old machine for just music. You can pick up a used copy of OSX,Tiger pretty cheap, again, probably free.

You are not lost forever to your beloved Soundcloud community! :D

To be sure, I TOTALLY understand your frustration!! I've been exactly where you are right now hence buying 3 G4 700s :x and then eventually having to replace everything for about $4k because of incompatibilities due to "obsolesence." :x :x :x :x :x :x
So my advice is to get a free G4 mac and use it for all your internet stuff.
Here's about what you want:

Here's a listing of all the G4 models:

Dear Bill, you are so kind ! :)

If my only 6 year old Apple Mac OSX 9.5 is too old, as SoundCloud demands the latest Browsers, and all these Browsers, ( Chrome- Safari- Firefox- Internet Explorer ), can only be uploaded by an Apple Mac OSX10, I do not see the point of getting, even for free, this lovely little Toy, (they were pretty, weren't they ?) called :
Apple Power Macintosh G4 733 (Quicksilver) Specs

However I see the point of purchasing. like I said earlier, a cheap PC Window Laptop, that I will use only for SoundCloud, and may be for others things later.

It is not so much the money ... although an Apple Mac Computer OSX 10 is well over £1000 nowadays, (almost the double in Dollars !)... so that makes one thinks  :?
It is the immense trouble.
My Apple Mac is full of very precious treasures of all kinds : my original Music - Hector's Music - Photos - Homemade Videos - Documents - my Writings - My original Art Work - Important Links - etc, etc ...
All baked up, but you know ... I shall feel lost in a complete jungle if I have to migrate all that onto a new Apple Mac !

So my solution for now is a new cheap PC Window Laptop. I could have one for around £200, probably.

But I need help as to how I could connect it to my Server, the Company that allows me to be on line and connected to the Internet, at the same time as my Apple Mac.

I think that I have noticed that Michael works with one or two or three Computers at a time, standing on his beautiful wooden table in his Office.

How does he do that ? :?: :?

Hmmm, I hope they support Snow Leopard (10.6.8), else I'll have to update too, if I want to use Soundcloud.
it wasn't clear from your description that this is what was happening. I thought you were on OS9. Sorry for all of the irrelevant musing.

If Snow Leopard is 10, it should be all right, dear Bill. ;)

Safari has to be Safari 6. My current Safari, for instance, (and I cannot go higher at this point), is 5.0.4.
Chrome 32 requires an Apple Mac OSX 10.
And I think that Internet Explorer 9 does not work with an Apple Mac at all. Not sure.
Opera works with an Apple Mac, but is not accepted by SoundCloud.

I just cannot put out of my mind that ... I am not the only one ! It is impossible !
So what is SoundCloud thinking ?
Is it about a way to reduce their Membership, or to reduce the number of their Visitors ?
Is it a way to acquire the ... "on line security" type of thing ? What else ?

I don't know. Food for thoughts.
Because it is a drastic change from them, from SoundCloud. With consequences.
It is similar to stumble upon a stopping block. Blocking an entire Domain for many many people all over the World. Why would they want to do that ?
It came without warning, you know. Usually, one gets e-mails or Pop Up Windows, that type of thing ... Within minutes, the Basic access was closed.

I read :

"As of May 15, 2014 we no longer offer the ability to actively switch back to Classic SoundCloud.

Many bugs and stability issues on SoundCloud were due to trying to keep essentially two sites up and running at a global scale. We are turning off Classic SoundCloud in order to focus on the new site and create a reliable and accurate platform that can have a better user experience."

A drastic change that very few major Websites have decided upon, so far.
Crossed fingers ! :?

Anyway, I have a hope with my new little cheap PC Window Laptop, that I may very well purchase in a very near future.

I want to stay in my new found role of "Music Consultant" at the TAXI Forum, for all of you Guys and Gals !! :) ;)

Hey Dear Catherine.....I've been using my cheapo tablet to listen to soundcloud
lately. It's a Nextbook or some crap....it was only like 70 USD. Just got it to have when I'm laying in bed and want to hear some music.
Don't know how much of a mark-up there is for UK from USA. but it's worth a try if you can afford that? It has a headphone out, so you can run it into whatever you use
for monitoring. I line it into my audio interface, and it let's me peruse the peers
stuff pretty good :D
A cheapest PC laptop would be better....just get something with a Celeron
processor, and a gig or 2 of RAM, would be plenty enough for the soundcloud thing.
Of course, it wouldn't run much VST software and such, but it would breeze the soundcloud thang!
Just stay posting here, whatever you do :D

Oh dear Steve,

Thank you !! :)

Yes, I looked yesterday at the cheapest PC Window Laptops, they are between £349 and £379. I was not very impressed.

A Tablet or NoteBook, as they call it. Yes, a pretty good idea.

After that I would need to figure out to get it connected to the Internet ... etc. And how to upload the Browser ... :?
