Quick Listen before tonight?
Can I get some feedback on this tension cue: https://soundcloud.com/gypsygirl/getting-on-my-nerves (this is the remix version now)
Mainly wondering if you hear anything in the mix that needs to get fixed, sometimes I apparently
do not hear distortion etc. and two of the a'la's were not available to me in Canada for whatever reason
so I only had the third one to go by.

Please submit relatively simple Instrumental cues that have a serious tone/mood, yet are somewhat subtle, and can still propel a scene forward. If your Cue can add some tension to a scene without being too busy or frenetic, you’ll be in the ballpark! No need to break out the bombastic Taiko drums or huge brass swells for this pitch. They’re NOT looking for heart-racing, chase scene-style tension Cues for these shows. The examples above are really your best guide for this pitch!
Submissions should be approximately 90 seconds in length. Non-faded endings with a natural decay/ring out are recommended. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).
This Library offers a NON-Exclusive 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of any applicable sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch. Hi,
Just had a quick listen, great piece, great keys, not familiar with this listing so can really only comment on the mix, the one thing that struck me was that the drums sounded a bit mono and far back in the room (reverb wise) Possibly worth widening the stereo a bit ( but not the 10 foot wide drum kit !!) and match space wise with the drone and piano.

Thanks for the ears Ken, I'm kind of happy the drums sound buried, as that's how they sound to me in the 3rd a'la track.
I had them really punchy and then i buried them so they don't sound too bombastic or jarring. I'll listen again just to
make sure I didn't over do that bit.

Cool Track. I think it fits very well for this listing. I also notieced that piano maybe was a bit to much in front compare to the other sounds. Overall a think it is a very good track

Hey Tore, thankyou for the ears. Yes, I think I should take a second listen and re-balance everything.
I (of course) always think the piano should be louder than the rest ha ha...
So I'll do a little more tweaking.
Also wondering does the emotion come through? I wish it sounded more "tense", but I spose there are degrees of tension
and they are asking for subtle/serious. This is pretty subtle for tension I think, but it is on the serious side.
Oh well, on ward and upward.

It sounds great to me although not my wheelhouse. When I need to get in the mix and check the finer details I use headphones. For balancing/mixing I use nearfield monitors but the headphones come in very handy for the little details I might miss with monitors.

Great music Diane. I think the overall mix is a little muddy, the piano sounds quite dark in timbre (might be what you are shooting for in this listing). Starts off great, but when the percussion enters it almost has a Latin feel to it. Taking out the hi-hat might help a tad (imho). Also, they ask for approximately 90 seconds, this is a full 120 seconds. I defer to the veterans as to whether or not that is a legitimate concern. If so, you've already got a natural fade at 1:40.

Thanks guys for the excellent feedback. If you're curious you can listen to the remix here after unburying the drums "a bit" and
taking the piano part down in the mix, and adding some more tension notes. It's kind of depressing, but oh well !

Hi Diane love the piece and the emotion.
I have 2 suggestions that could be on or off the mark so get the salt shaker handy.
I see its a non exclusive pitch so I thought if it were used somewhere else like in a cinema I wondered if the low end could be evened out through the track. Maybe just put a spectrum analyser on the master bus to see whats down there.
The drums feature at the end. Just wondered if you could draw attention to them without bring them forward, to me they seemed a little bright compared to how they were earlier.
Just a thought, it sounds ready to go as is anyway. I'm still growing my ears too.
