Blues instrumental, swing and a miss

Post by karlhourigan » Thu Jun 01, 2017 4:57 pm

I submitted for a blues instrumental call, and this track missed the mark. "... need to showcase a sound that's a little more Soulful rhythmically." The call was
# Y170516BI. I'd love to hear a track that was forwarded for this call so I can learn. Cheers!

Me too. Mine said:

Yeah... nice track! 8-) ;) :D
My only minor criticism... is that it's too long by about 1:00 minute. Then you can condense what's there and get to the point quicker, if you see what I mean. Feel free to disregard.

Cheers Karl

Love the piece and I really like your playing. It might be a little too long although the listing did say 2 minutes give or take. What does that even mean? Give or take a minutes? A few seconds? Mine was about 30 seconds over the two minutes.

I too had a return on this listiing. The reviewer commented: "I like the rock edge I heard here- but I think it was a bit more of a classic rock edge than the modern rock edge that this listing was after. This is a VERY good song- I just didn't hear it working for this listing." Bummer.

I was at the Road Rally and attempting to apply lessons learned and for the first time wrote for a specific listing. I guess I'll have to google "modern rock edge." I played everything except I programmed the drums. Here's the tune...

Any thoughts on what I should look for in a listing to submit this piece again?

I hope someone who was forwarded will post so I can see what precisely the reviewer was searching.

kinda hard to nail a listing with a pre-recorded song.

I guess I would listen to the samples they link to, to see what is close.
