New Age attempt.

Would love to get some feedback on this track. Not sure if its too wishy washy (not sure of the technical term). It was done with no click to free up the timing, but I'm not sure if it would be better with a solid pulse.
Any comments welcome
Thanks
Lots of RELAXING NEW AGE/AMBIENT INSTRUMENTAL ARTISTS and COMPOSERS are needed by an Independent Record Label looking for artists to sign!
They’re on the hunt for lots of Instrumentals that could be found on a playlist with the following references:
"Light Breath" by Embers Of Winter
https://youtu.be/BRIWS7-_tzw
"Watermark" by Enya
https://youtu.be/NO5tb20qQnA
"Sueño tranquilo" by Pedro Caceres
"Evergreen" by Cooper Sams
Please send well-crafted New Age Instrumentals with a relaxing, ambient sound and style. Your submissions should have top-notch arrangements and can feature a variety of instrumentation (Piano, Synths, Acoustic Guitar, etc.) as long as they add to the peaceful feel of your tracks and don't detract from it. Polished production and state-of-the-art software sounds and samples are essential for this listing. Imagine the kind of music you might hear in a spa or yoga studio – that's what this label is looking for.
TAXI Tip: Soothing, non-lyrical vocal parts like "Oohs" and "Aahs" are fine to include in your submissions. They're not required, but they could be a nice touch!
Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This Label has specifically asked that you ONLY send UNRELEASED, UNPUBLISHED Instrumentals that aren't already commercially available. If you've already commercially released them, they can't use them! This includes releases on Spotify, CD Baby, etc.
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal. The specific deal points will be negotiated directly with the Record Label on a case-by-case basis. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD, and include a photo and bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. TAXI # S210216AG

Re: New Age attempt.
Very nice, Peter. I love the chord changes, the flow, and the overall ambience of the piece. I listen to a lot of this kind of music and I would say that it fits nicely into the genre. I would guess that you focused on the Enya reference as it feels and sounds most like her work.
A couple of observations: The background vocals, especially in the last third of the track, seemed to me a bit distracting. There is a modulation or some kind of wobbliness going on there... not sure what it is but it felt odd to my ears. And at about 2:30, the voices seem to be chanting something but I found the indistinctness of what they are saying to be distracting. Took me out of the meditative quality of the piece because I was trying so hard to hear what they are saying. Maybe bring that out a bit more?
And only because I've gotten dinged by screeners for this myself, I think the piano might be a bit bright for such a low-energy, calming vibe. Beautifully played -- I wish I was as good as you are -- but you might consider adding some low end.
Other than that I think it is just what the listing calls for. Good luck!
Full Disclosure: I am also submitting to this listing, but our pieces are nothing at all alike, so no conflict of interest there.

Thanks Musicbug. Yes Enya was the inspiration. There is a wobbly voice sound bending between 2 chords, I think I got it right in some parts and not others, I’ll check that.MusicBug wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 10:30 amVery nice, Peter. I think I agree about those chants, that’s probably why I buried it in the mix, but it’s best if I get rid of them.
I’ll also look at the piano eq, I did a new age piano one a while ago and was told it was too bassy, so I’ve probably gone too far the other way. I’ll have a fiddle with the piano velocities and try to find the sweet spot as the tone changes quite drastically depending on the velocity.
Good luck with your submission and thanks for your comments

A beautiful piece, I like it a lot! I was just wondering if the section from 2:30-3:00 may be a bit too dramatic/rushed/high energy for this listing? It's doesn't have the "relaxing" feel that I think they want!

Thanks Zaychi, very glad you like it. I’ll check that section out, I think that’s where the chants come in and I’m going to get rid of them so maybe that will help. I’ll try and keep it meditative throughout.
Cheers
Peter

That is a beautiful piece of music. I really enjoyed that. I read some of the other feedback, and I basically agree with most of it, but it has a nice sound and very nice theme. Nice work!

I also submitted this piece to the same listing, not sure if it counts as New Age or not, I hope so!

Two superb tracks. I was transported somewhere listening to Regret - forgot I was listening to a Taxi submission!

I don't think they ever get transported, like their feet are nailed to the ground or something)))
