INTRODUCTION: Michael Warner, Australia

Post by anthony34 » Sat Sep 27, 2008 11:33 pm

Hello! I thought about Taxi for a year and decided to join after seeing Suz.D's recent successes. I'm convinced that Taxi is totally credible and that, maybe, I can have some success here too. I'm a guitarist who is using guitar synth for all of my strings, brass, woodwind etc. I'm not a reader (which in this environment seems a very serious impediment, but I'll still be giving it my best shot). I lean very strongly toward jazz. I speak numbers well - so G13b5b9 makes sense to me, but show me the dots and I'm gone. I work in the office at a concrete plant by day and try to fit in music where I can at night and on weekends. I've read a lot of your threads in the Forwards area and listened to your music, so I feel that I know some of you quite well. I also am grateful to be able to join such an astonishing forum and be able to "mix" at least on line with people of such exceptional musical ability. MY MUSIC SAMPLES (I hope!)(test 2 3 4) http://www.taxi.com/michael34(aha - thanks to Vicki the above now WORKS! )http://cdbaby.com/cd/michaelwarner3 my guitar synth albumhttp://cdbaby.com/cd/michaelwarner2 my 1950's style albumhttp://cdbaby.com/cd/michaelwarner1 my Christmas album(My Christmas Album has some nice stuff, but it's my oldest work and my lowest recording standard. My most serious work is really on the guitar synth album.) Oh, Anthony34 is because my first attempt at registering went wrong - it's actually my middle name. Kind regards, Michael W.

Hi Michael, welcome to taxi. i wouldn't worry at all about not being able to read music...it worked out ok for Paul McCartney. I don't read either yet I write more orchestral pieces than any other genre. Good luck with all your submissions and enjoy your stay!louis

Hi Michael, I'll wave too as the US hasn't woken up yet (the UK wins, again). You're smarter than I was, I spent two years lurking watching the boards before joining Taxi and emerging into the light. No one stepped on me, so that was all right . It's an interesting ride!

Hi Michael, welcome to Taxi! You're the seond Michael W. from Australia I'm meeting thru Taxi... I know at least one very successful Taxi member who doesn't read music (won't "out" him/her here unless (s)he wants to do so him/herself), and (s)he's gotten plenty of forwards, signed some nice deals and definitely made money as a result...You certainly can't tell by listening to this person's music. And that's really what it's all about here.Best of luck to you!matto

Welcome aboard Michael! As matto mentioned, you definitely don't need to be a theory buff or be able to sight read to have success. Theory definitely helps, but isn't a requirement at all.I can barely read and have only taken music theory I and II (I aced Theory I but did REALLY bad in Theory II) and I've been fortunate enough to sign a few deals.-Steve

Hello Michael and Welcome to the Forum! Being a jazz guy at heart I will be looking forward to hearing some of your work. I try to get away from the jazz influences at times but always find them calling me back home. Best of Luck and once again, Welcome! Kurt
