Ern, how about another Zappa classic: "San Bernadino"? From "One Size Fits All". "She lives in Mojave in a Winnebago, his name is Bobby he looks like a potato" Happy Fourth!!Mazz

Mazz,I've got that album (One Size Fits All). Been listening to it on a regular. I really dig "Inca Roads". One of my all time favorites. I've been crankin' that tune on a regular. I know it's not a tune about a city in America, but man, it's one complex tune. Lotta changes, good dynamics, really nice feel to it. Frank kept that one really interesting for me. When I put it on, I listen to it at least a dozen times before I give it a rest. San Berdino is cool, but Inca Roads is the bomb (songwise, that is). Love the bass work & the drummer is layin' down the groove big time. And George Duke really spices things up with his smooth keyboard playin'. Love that tune. I-468 "He got slobberin' drunk at the Palomino...They give him thirty days in San Berdino."

Ib,That's a total classic Zappa album for me too and Inca Roads is pretty amazing. The guitar solo on that one is from a live gig, spliced in the middle of the tune. Zappa was famous for editing and even doing tons of overdubs on live recordings back in the studio. I've always liked "Pojama People" too, great piano and guitar work on that one. That was one of Frank's best bands ever!Back to the thread: One of my all time favorites: Billie Holiday's version of "Stars Fell on Alabama". Gives me chills every time! Another one just popped in: Ray Charles' "Georgia on my Mind". Amazing song, amazing performance!Mazz
