I've loved his weird stuff long before "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and "Ghost World" came out. Sounds like a fun, fun project. Good luck with it!Chitty...yeah, that's what double albums were good for... I miss album covers. A big old square, just a perfect canvas...and artwork to express what this album is all about. I foresee a favorite album cover thread...On an excellent system with a pristine record, vinyl presented a sound that has not yet been matched. Still, I never had an excellent system, and my records always took a beating. I used to ridicule those fussy types who wouldn't let you touch their vinyl. Here's a funny: when our kids wouldn't listen, my wife used to tell them "I sound like a broken record!" For years, they had no idea what she meant by that. They'd never heard a skipping vinyl...they thought she meant like a sports record, which, once someone breaks it, is now lonely and unimportant.

I didn't pay much attention to the labels (they were in the record sleeves) as I was packin' 'em, so there's a possibility that there might be some in the box. Thanks for lettin' me know guys! Perhaps mewman (or someone) can let me know what artist(s) recorded on that particular label. It's slightly out of my time frame. I-468

Hey Ern:Absolutely, Derek and the Dominoes never, ever sounded so good on any digital recording. Ever. They sound not only awesome but an added bonus (and the one I always factor in) is that you could tell by the chemistry, the playin' off each other, that they did a lot of it in the same room or where they could see each other, not one at a time. I've always loved the group dynamics and chemistry that a great band brings to the table and you can actually hear it on vinyl. By the time CDs came around......well, only a few quirky alt bands do the live recording thing now. Plus, it's hard to be enchanted when you know some engineer is autotuning every damn thing. I hate that. I really hate that.

I-468If memory serves me correctly, I believe almost everyone who was anyone in jazz recorded with them at one time or another......Thelonius Monk, Freddie Hubbard, Art Blakely....one of my faves, Sarah Vaughn, I think recorded with that label, possibly another fave, Lena Horne, did as well. Not sure though, I'd have to go hunt it up.

Thanks Ernst & Squids! Squids, if that's the case, then I'm sure I have some records that were recorded by artists on that label. Here's what the label looked like back in the day.I definitely recognize that label, and I'm sure if I start pullin' records out of the sleeves, I'll find some. And Squids, I'm sure there are records in the box by all of those people you mentioned. Thanks guys!I-468
