You're welcome, Ern! I'm with you in that I don't see any good reason forspeculating about what could have or should have been. The Beatles are commonly thought to have hada "revolutionary" influence on music and on the world, in general, in some ways. I'm content to accept thatpremise, along with the belief that there have been many other musicians/bands who have helped to"revolutionize" pop/rock music and the "biz". TheBeatles hold and symbolize a special place in history.

I refuse to let this thread die! Unfortunately I came along toward the end of the Beatle Dynasty. I've heard that it was women that tore the group apart. If thats true, what other group do you know of where this has happened? How about your own experiance?

Hey, I thought of something the Beatles did revolutionize. Well sort of! It was the success of the Beatles and the 'British Invasion' that caused the U.S. music industry to begin its silent conspiracy of playing as little foreign music as possible. Obviously the publishers, PRO's, radio stations, and all the rest realized that they were losing an awful lot of money to these foreigners and so the U.S. in the 70's became a wasteland of blandness and has never really recovered!

Quote: I've heard that it was women that tore the group apart.HeHeh, Rock! When I first read that, I got the "Hard Day's Night" image of women "tearing" after the Beatles and trying to "tear" their clothes off!I guess you're talking about Yoko, eh? She had a bit to do with the Beatles' demise, but it was jealousy that really tore them apart. John and Paul were growing farther and farther apart musically and personally. George's "I Me Me Mine" (there's those pronouns again ) speaks to that. They fought in their lyrics post-Beatles, with Paul's "Too Many People" and John's "How Do You Sleep?" Jeez, Paul is STILL fighting Lennon, trying to get the copyrights to say "McCartney/Lennon." What a jerk. Ern

Quote:"If You Remember the '60s, You Weren't Really There" ~ Author UnknownHmmm, no wonder.I gigged with a guitarist who was a real space case. One night we had a casual gig, and sat down to dinner during a break. I thought that this would be a good opportunity to figure this guy out. I said "John Lennon once said he had done acid 1000 times. How many times have you done acid, Steve?" He stared up toward the ceiling for what seemed like minutes, and then finally slowly said "I don't know, but I don't think it was 1000 times." HeHeh! Ern

America...bland in the 70's?? Oh c'mon! I know that europe has alway had an "elvis envy"...but we were anything but bland in the 70's. There were tons of great american bands. The world bands wanted nothing more than to be an american icon.(waiting for worms to exit can)
