Slightly, OT but..My favorite Beatles songs are the ones where you really feel John and Paul together. The Let it Be album has a few tunes where you feel it, even though it was a dark time in their relatsionships...One of the reasons this is true is that many Let it Be tunes were written earlier but not released.I love "One After 909" where John and Paul sing together and the ending of "I've got a feeling" with the medley at the end.Off the top of my head, the white album is the worst in this area (not the worst songs at all!)... It's more of a collection of John, Paul, and George tunes. In the early Beatles, the John and Paul harmonies were terrific.PS "Across the Universe" , I hear, was originally recorded for Sgt Pepper but didn't make it. What a great song! ....PPS "Across the Universe" has NO rhyming pattern! Casey

Although "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" got a lot of attention early on, I'd like to nominate "Please Please Me" as the most goosebump inducing John/Paul song. Wow, does that kick ass!BTW, a friend of mine just saw McCartney live, and Paul is singing that tune, but doing John's melody line. It's cool he's doing the song, but Ern

Quote:Also songs like "And Your Bird Can Sing"...Yea, that's a good one. I played that in a band once with another guitarist, and it was really fun.I always assumed George double-tracked that lead guitar duet --- Ringeaux

I was just listening to the Let It Be album and remembered that George's "I Me Mine" has verses in triple and chorus in straight time... Question: Speaking of "Let It Be", has anyone listened to "Let It Be Naked" ? I haven't yet... If you have, what are your thoughts? Personally, I love the Phil Spector'd versions but I need to hear the others... Casey

John Lennon on the Hollywood Bowl:"The Hollywood Bowl was marvelous. It was the one we all enjoyed most, I think, even though it wasn't the largest crowd --- because it seemed so important, and everybody was saying things. We got on, and it was a big stage, and it was great. We could be heard in a place like the Hollywood Bowl, even though the crowd was wild: good acoustics. There's a couple of places we've been heard quite well, better than we've been for years. But we don't want them quiet. There's no point in doing a show if they're just going to sit there listening --- they can listen to their record. I like a riot."Ern

All the songs connected on this album. Soon groups, like the WHO (i.e. Tommy) were doing it, too.

adorian is right. that's one of the main things about sgt. pepper. it brought together a theme on one album. new stuff. since then, every album attempts to do the same thing.

"naked" is wonderful, IMHO. the vocals and intruments are so raw and basic, and lennon's voice is nearly angelic. "the long and winding road" is just beautiful, too. i see them as two totally different albums. both with good qualities.
