Re: Broadjam Problems
Quote:It's only a potential problem if more than one source claims to represent or own your music and have the right to negotiate on your behalf. Taxi doesn't do that obviously.I just haven't seen any kind of info about how Broadjam plans to forward my music. If hundreds of artists from Broadjam submit music(with no one to weed out the inappropriate stuff), it seems pointless to bother submitting. It concerns me they're already accepting money for submissions without telling us how they plan to operate their "delivery" service. The ducks aren't all quacking in a row yet.Quote:Taxi has built a reputation with the companies they work with. That reputation is built largely on that fact that they have experts, whose ears those companies trust, screen your music. I counted on this, when I joined Taxi.Quote:When contemplating whether to join any service that offers to help you sell your music, obviously you'd want to check their track record in helping other people who are in a situation similar to yours. How might I learn about Broadjam's track record, as far as placement opportunities go? Where do you think they plan to advertise their new opportunities?Quote: As I stated before if two companies have the right to negotiate license fees on your behalf, that could work to your disadvantage, but that's not the case here (at least not as far as Taxi is concerned); Broadjam hasn't explained any of this: What happens if someone picks my music? I have no interest in getting my music in film or TV without being paid. It's a point of philosphy for me. Some Taxi members are happy with credits only, but music isn't a secondary income for me. It looks like we're asked to submit blindly, without any knowledge of what is being offered in return. Obviously, you are being careful about how you respond. Usually your response posts to my musings smash me upside the head with reality. I am wary of why Taxi and Michael aren't informing their own members. But I have ample supply of reasons to trust you Matto, and therefore Taxi's business interests. You always demonstrate a wonderful ability to cut to the chase, even when I don't agree with you. I read your post, and I become calm. Thank you again for the inexhaustible wisdom you bring. When I first had to join Broadjam, their service & web presence bugged me. I didn't like how their "Pro Reviewers" page was so out of date. I didn't like all the song contests. On the other hand, my first experience with Michael wasn't thrilling. Must've been my "tone." We musicians in Canada have a joke about exposure, though. You can die from it. steve

Informing their members of what?If you're interested in joining the BJ service, you should ask all those question of BJ customer service. If they have indeed decided to roll out a service that's in direct competition to Taxi, abviously BJ employees can't answer any questions regarding that service on the Taxi forum.

Re: Broadjam Problems
hey to all you great musician's out there!I am new to Taxi. I heard about Broadjam and Taxi splitting?? I paid for a PrimoMOb membership and submitted songs through them for a Taxi listing. Should I be concerned about that? It will be coming up on about 4 weeks now since my submission which is perfectly within the limits Taxi has set for critiques etc. I guess I just want to be sure they got my music. My CC was billed and I did get a receipt. I just hope my songs went through ok. Ok guys I have never done this before so I am really unsure of everything. Thanks for your comments in advance regarding this service. JET

Aw, Casey, you beat me to it (so to speak)! I was going to say "About $500 on the Sunset Strip and $1000 in Vegas." Sick minds think alike --- Ern

I have absolute confidence that your submissions will be listened to in exactly the manner you expect and hope for. I have lots of submissions pending, and no reason to doubt that both company's systems are working reliably and effectively. In fact, right now, both companies are probably working better than ever. Neither company wants any bad news or confidence issues clouding their reputations.steve
