Quote:Hi Matt.Lurking is not a pejorative in my lingo. I always lurk before posting As for BJ, I was noting the serendipitous confluence of your presence and the TAXI/BJ thingy. I'm sure this board has been on BJ's radar for a long time now. best,bcI can understand why you would think that, bc. Unfortunately for me I was brought here by the streaming hiccups, which were anything but serendipitous!I leave this post alone now - I don't want any appearances that I'm trying to influence it.Matt

FWIW, I spoke with Laskow yesterday and he confirmed this new Broadjam feature/service/opportunity is definitely NOT anything to do with Taxi.

I checked this out last night. I can see where there is a conflict of interest between both companies. However as someone who really likes Taxi's service but currently can't come up with the membership fee, BJ's offer is a nice alternative.

I just read the "terms" of the BJ service - and here's what bothers me:* once sent, the receiving company (ie publ. comp.) has the right (!) to license your track, collect royalties etc - this is very uncommon, because I don't know to which TERM / under which contract my songs (automatically!!) would fall. how is the split? reversion clause? synch license split? etc.* the songs seems to go directly to the publisher - no pre-screening. In my experience, they will be floaded by crappy songs of hopefull amateurs. I once was a subscriber as a producer of such a service - I literaly received hundreds of songs, about 80-90% was totally crap. so what happened was: I didn't listen to any more songs and ignored their mails (generated "you have 40 new songs in your inbox"), and I think a busy supervisor, publisher etc will do the same.so I'm pretty unconvinced about that service, the first point I mentioned is the most important of course, but also the second point is important - who wants to blow out songs for 5 $ each if you don't know if it even got heard. a self-marketing way (google companies, ask if you can send a demo etc) is way better than that.martin

Re: Is BroadJam after TAXI's Market Share?
Well I have not been on BJ for about a week and this is the first I have heard of anything. I just joined Taxi Jan 1st and ONLY got a BJ account so I could submit electronically. I have yet to make submission but this talk of my recently opened account being worthless is giving me an attitude. As a starving artist, I would hate to think I spent that money for nothing. I hope someone has some good news, like I will still be able to submit to Taxi through BJ. Otherwise I am going on a one man ANTI Broadjam campain, and I am pretty good at spreading it around when a company messes with me. I will get some satisfaction one way or the other.

I can't remember where I read it, but the last thing i read was that Broadjam would still support taxi submissions until (whichever comes first or was it last?) your current broadjam membership expires -or- your current taxi membership expires. I agree that if you paid $50 for a year's worth of electronic submissions to taxi, and you get less than that, you should get at least a pro-rated refund. You should call bjam customer service and see what they say. Casey
