Quote:..well, instead of saying "I would, if...." it's much better to say "I do".Well... we were speaking about the lottery winnings 'hypothetically'.As far as reality goes, I have had a working business plan for my jazz museum for the last five years - just a week ago, I received my official "non-profit" status from the IRS, so I can now write grant proposals to start raising money to make it a reality. That, on top of the 390+ proposals I have already written and sent to foundations to raise funds to produce my father's documentary through my New York Foundation for the Arts' sponsorship. Oh yeah, and that silly band of mine too... three CDs and 20,000 websites later...Yes - these are tangible actions I have taken over a span of years to make all this happen. Winning the lottery would simply expedite matters...

It seems to me that this question is a little more difficult to answer. C'mon, I'm sure there are more of you that have other interest than music.

Depends on what was meant by "writing" music. I mean, I could say sure, take the money and sit home and write music all day anyway. WOuldn't be honest perhaps, but if you never tried to publish it, would it count? I am not sure I could honestly say I would/could stop writing songs under any circumstances in the strictist sense. I hear them all the time. Is that writing them? So Rock you'll need to be more specific to get an honest answer.

Ten million makes you a rock star without the music, if its the trappings you like. Can I take five million and still write instrumentals?

I mean, for ten million, you would not write it down, record it, or pursue writing your own songs in any way shape or form. You can listen to music, and enjoy it. But nothing else in the music field.

If I won ten million I'd invest it in carbon emission shares....I'd soon see my ten million multiply into 100 million or more. I'd keep doing this until I had so much money I could buy the rights to the Bush family genes......then I'd have them destroyed for future generations.Oh, and I'd also buy a smart car....they're cool!
