I'd say sue them.I've been a producer for 10 years and first: the budget they asked you for the job is TOO LOW for what they promised... 3500/5 songs =700$.700$ for studio time, arrangements, recording vocals, musicians, mixing and mastering is not enough for the time it takes. I don't know a lot of "profesional" producers who would ask under 1500$ per song for that task. ON my side I wouldn't ask under 2500$ for that task. But they clearly scamed you and I would go in court for that. worst case, the judge will say that they worked on 1 song and will not refund this one.Good luck!

Many have suggested a lawyer but they are very expensive. I think you did the right thing by checking out your claims limitation for your state. You have to weigh that against what you can get back in a judgement in your favor. also keep in mind that if you get a judgement, there is still no guarantee that they will pay you. it is just a judgement. If they don't have it, they can't or won't pay it.There is no "right price" to pay for services. Think of it like buying a car. What is the 'right' car payment? your payment will differ greatly based on several points: make, model, year, credit, etc. Define what you want first. Then shop. Get references and a contract with specifics. Don't let hustlers intimidate you. Take your time and do your homework. Taxi is full of great references both on their website and their book reference material.Don't beat yourself up. You're not an idiot. i think your brave post has and will help many others!Best of luck! Christi

Okay, I didn't see there was a page too also! You won! FANTASTIC!And Dave's thought on going to their bank . . . My brother did this with a contractor once recently and was able to take the sheriff to their bank and get his money. Different state but well worth checking out.Christi
