Hi Everyone -I have a (potentially) dumb question about the Rally (which will be my first): Does anything besides registration "happen" on the the first night (Thursday, I trust) of the Rally or is it all right to get there Friday? Thanks for any and all help!Jon

Thanks for any and all help!JonHey, Jon.As far as "Driver's Ed" classes and the like, no. There is the open mic in the main ball room and the smaller, more intimate alternative open mic somewhere upstairs, but not a whole lot else other than meeting other Dots and enjoying the vibe. But one of the biggest reasons to get there in plenty o' time for Thursday's registration is the one-on-one mentor sessions. They are on a first-come, first-served basis (and while MOST TAXI members in attendance can take advantage of this, the slots ARE limited and they fill up FAST). But the premise is that every dues-paying TAXI member is allowed a FREE 10-12 minute one-on-one consultation with the mentor of your choice, and we have two long lists of names to choose from during the two sessions this is available. But in order to better your chances of getting the name you want and the time slot that will fit into your "plan of attack" for the weekend, you'll need to be in the registration line nice and early. Both of the last two years, many of us were in the line 2 hours before registration even opened. And we were 20-30 yards back from the front of the line. But it paid off, as both years I got exactly who I wanted in the exact time slot I needed to stick with my plan.Granted, having only 10-12 minutes means there's no time for chit-chat...you need to go into that session with your questions/agenda clearly set in your mind and stick to it; but it's an amazing opportunity to get some face time with an industry insider that you'd probably never get anywhere else. That's MY reason for making sure I get there early on Thursday. Well, that and having more time to reconnect with all the amazing people I've met there during my previous Rallies.HTHTed

Besides the mentor registration thing, Thursday is a great time to meet people. The line for registration wraps all around the lobby and beyond and people on line get to know each other. Some bring guitars and jam while on line. So Thursday is very social... Also, Ted buys drinks for the first 100 to arrive. Casey

I don't know what dates that are going to be picked but one thing that I do know I will not miss this one. I went last year and the Hotel was the best it had great rooms great service and everything is right there like Humminbird said this allows you to run upstairs if you need more CD. Plus you get to meet other Taxi members so I am saving up my $$ for this year I had a blast at the last one. So the bottom line is stay in the Hotel that the rally will be held at.JPI Rock With One NameBe Bless

Hi all,The dates for this year's Road Rally are November 5th-8th. I've got to say, we're already starting to plan some panels, and they're quite exciting. I know a lot of people are watching their dollars this year, so I'm making the panels irresistible so you can't stay home One of them will be (rough title) How to Create Film & TV Music -- the specifics nobody's ever told you before.See you in November,MLEdited the date. The Rally panels end on the 8th, not the 9th. Our load out is on the 9th
