HiHaven't really had a chance to report today. One huge standout thing was the opening with Jeffery Steele. I don't know country music at all and didn't even know the songs he wrote. But he totally blew me away. First the interview discussion was great-- lots of talk about songwriting and how he gets his ideas, etc... but then he performed live for about 20 minutes! We had our own Jeffery Steele concert for a little while. If you ever doubted what could be done with just a guitar and vocal, you had to hear this! He blew the doors off the place. That was amazing.Getting ready to grab a bite to eat and possibly sign up with friends for the alternate open mic. The alternate open mic room is open to non-performing songwriters to show off "the song, not the performance"... So, like last year, I may get brave again and sing one, with a little harmony help from dot friends to "cover me" a bit... Back later, Casey

Yeah, I've heard Jeffrey is quite a performer. That's the one thing I REALLY wanted to see, but alas, I think I made the right decision in not going. I've had lots of things to catch up on at work, as I just got back from a week in Nashville, and now because my girlfriend is out of town I have a free weekend to WRITE! I could have Jeffrey Steele and all the publishers in town give me their personal cell phone numbers, and it wouldn't mean squat if I don't write some great songs.Cam

Jeffrey ROCKED IT. Man he is a killer performer in his own right. Every song of his he played was so plainly a solid gold hit. I wish I could have recorded every second of what he performed, it was very inspiring and definitely a high point for me.

Wow. Friday has been fantastic. Jeffrey Steele was incredible. Robin Frederick is always a highlight. Jason Blume was a blast. The energy today has multiplied 100 fold. The upstairs open mic was terrific and several of the Dots performed one right after another. wooHOO. Adrienne, Casey, Hummingbird, Me, and a brand new "recruit" named Rebeka who's new username will be "Shorty". And the best thing has been/still is the Dots. They are everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Thank God Casey has left his pants on. So far...

Highlights so far:Jeffrey Steele performing medleys of his songs. At 10:00 in the morning he was absolutely bringing it. I'm not familiar with a lot of his music, but I sure felt his great energy. Style doesn't matter, if someone's great, they get me every time. What a treat.Shaking hands with Bob Clearmountain, one of my engineering heros. And, of course, hanging with my dot friends old and new.Aside from a sinus infection that hit me yesterday, it doesn't get any better than this. This morning getting ready for our panel. More later.Cheers!Mazz

Gott say Mazz, I haven't seen Clearmountain in 20 some years, and he looked damn good. Nice guy.The Rally has been really smooth and more fun than ever for my staff and me this year. Sorry I'm not able to hang a little more with you guys. I get a little envious as I fly by the on my way to putting a out a fire here or there. You guys are always having fun while I'm often enjoying the closetalkers who keep leaving spittle on my glasses.... usually with some form of alcohol in it. Had to clean cranberry juice form my glasses twice last night. Leaves residue on the wipey cloth! See you on your panel in 1.5 hours. Going to be fun!Michael
