A few Surf era type songs I did had been critiqued as not having the "rolling drum" sound. You have that covered. The drum part with the regular beat sounded a bit bright/snappy on the snare, but I think you have a solid submission here.
Good luck.

you got most of it, although its still a little crackly here and there, and the section 0:30-0:60 its more noticeable.2lane wrote:Thanks Andy for catching that! I was hitting the limiter on the guitar track pretty hard, so I backed that down. New mix is up, so if you'll check it again for me, that would be great. I probably didn't get all of it, but I tried hardandygabrys wrote:I like it and its a good pitch. you can never quite tell with these surf things IMO. people hear it different ways.
seems like its a little hot on some part of the mix. my monitors are crackling slightly and that only usually happens when certain frequencies are either really popping out, or the mix is over limited. Its most noticeable in 0:34 - 0:60.
If you are using an amp sim on your melody guitar you might check to see that the output of the sim isn't driving the track into the red. kinda sounds like that. authentic lo-fi![]()
You're amazing Andy.....just the best guy and ears, thanks for all you do for everybody!!
Oh yea, same title, (alt ending) if you get a chance
Cheers
Steve
if you really want to limit the guitar (why limit instead of compress is another question.......but I guess you are liking the sound) - why not stack two limiters on the guitar track. hit each one at 1/3 to 1/2 of the gain reduction that you are seeing on the one there right now. that can help.

I'll try your suggestion...thanks! I'm gonna try a couple TRacks comps on it or something?
Quite honestly though, it's gonna be hard to fix something I don't hear anymore, ya know? It may be coming from somewhere else altogether, somethings too hot somewhere. I'm going to let it lay til the fourth or so, spend a few hours trying at my best to find the culprit, then mix, swap files, and wish for the best.
I'm robbing myself of sleep too much lately. On a funny note, last night I was working on a new tune, guess I fell asleep, the phone rings, I wake up to the phone, but hear this high pitched synth dischord, I look down and my hand was on the keyboard. The call was from my next door neighbor, standing in my front yard, asking me what the hell was going on in my house

Ahhh yes, the things we go thru for a chance at a return

NICE!!!!
Sounds perfect!! Seriously, really cool Steve! GREAT guitar sound!
I do agree with the ending though … Something with a bit more “umph” would have been more desirable, but we’ll leave that up to the screener.
I say that's got an 87.2341% chance of being forwarded
Good luck, sir!!!

Also,
Thanks to everyone who listened, posted, and helped me make it better. I still think the old feller of a tune is not stout enough, but you all sure did drag him to the gym, for he is little more
buff.
He does look a lil better in his surf trunks now
Deep thanks to you good peoples!
Sincerely
Steve
