Gee Aub, I don't know who you're talking about but thank God I don't do pity or I might be offended. Fortunately there were a few who actually read and understood the post and answered the question, and the consensus so far seems to be that Nashville has all the album cuts it needs. I tend to agree. Next time I ask a question I'll try to direct it only to those who have some comprehension skills. Now if you'll excuse me I have some writing to do.Cam

I don't have the patience to read all these posts, but here's something that is just plain true: you can't rely on TAXI to get you a country cut with a major. Do they have the connections? Yes, absolutely. Can they get your song heard? Yes, absolutely. Will your song be so undeniable that the deciders will let you leapfrog over all the other excellent songs by people who pay their dues IN Nashville, collaborating and networking and sweating to get that cut? Are they going with the stranger or the friend? This is a very real concern. Don't imagine TAXI has control over THAT part of things. They have the access, but they can't make the deciders choose your song. I think too many people think that "good enough" is good enough. Well it ain't. It needs to be pretty amazingly stupendously remarkable before they're going to say, yes, it's GOTTA be that song! Why do we keep blaming TAXI for not getting MORE near-impossible scores? They've already done it, but it's getting harder every year. There are hundreds of thousands of good songs, thousands of great songs. How many are so perfect they make you weep with joy? It needs to be that good.

I still really haven't seen anyone "blaming TAXI" for anything (you'll have to forgive me for actually reading the posts before I decide to summarize what they say), but otherwise, well said, Mark. Well said. And, BTW, if I wasn't clear, I think the system is absolutely "fair." It is just fine and makes a lot of sense when you think about it--people willing to give their whole lives should probably get a break before I do. " 'Fair' is where you take your cow's and pigs to be judged."

The deciders will always go for the song that makes the most $.They will choose their friends track over an outsiders if there is no difference in quality.

If no one is blaming TAXI, then I guess this is all just aimless musing about why TAXI doesn't have more country cuts with majors. So no one is blaming them, we're just wondering why there aren't more examples...Well hell, then even just one #1 is a pretty good track record. They've broken the code more than once, so that tells me they're worth trying. But if all I wrote was country, and I was determined to get a cut in Nashville, I sure wouldn't live anywhere else.
