Yep, that could be me at times I suppose. I've been called worse. But Rang, what you interpret as stubborn might just be due more to our age gap than a true separation of the minds.I simply know where I stand on a lot of things and I'm not afraid to speak my mind, but I always try to do it politely. And, I really don't see where my views on using good grammar or my thoughts on human interactions have anything to do with how long I might live.If we assume your birthday in your profile is accurate, in 1967 when I was graduating from high school you were 1 year old. In August 1968 you were about 2 1/2 years old while I was high as a kite watching Jimi Hendrix play live at the old Virginia Beach Dome. When you were 3 years old I was joining the Air Force. In September 1970 you were 4 1/2 years old, the same year Hendrix died. By that time I had already lived through Viet Nam and you weren't even in kindergarten yet. So, what's your point? Your old enough for the silver special at the diner for dinner at 4:00PM? I'm not all that much younger than you (5 years)... I just don't see the relevance. We are the age at which we live... Casey (who has no life and hangs around here)

In September 1970 you were 4 1/2 years old, the same year Hendrix died. By that time I had already lived through Viet Nam and you weren't even in kindergarten yet. Kindergarten was HELL. It Began with the pox, also know as, " Yuck ! What's all over your face." It's the first day of school and everyone around me thinks i eat raw chicken. This went on for a while but my snack's sold me out. Saltines and peanut butter proved me a fraud. Not a raw eater at all. Bored by saltines and just plain stupid, my onetime admirers chose to follow the teachings of the Ginger kid who could die of sunburn if he wasn't careful. They carelessly went to the pool every day. Where as i went on a solo journey, and my first act as an outsider was to split my head open on a rock wall. It took 14 stitches just to keep my brain from falling out. One month later, and never one to let old wounds heal. I immediately sprained an ankle doing back flips off the monkey bars, leaving me with one good foot to peddle my bike. Every trip was a block or more behind everyone else, praying hills still went down as often as they went up. Hating myself more and more for screaming " Wait UP!" They weren't deaf - and i wasn't cool. Funny we were friends at all. The only cool thing i ever did was catch blood poisoning fishing on the banks of the polluted Androscoggin . I'd tell anyone who'd listen " I could die from this ." " I could die from this ." " I could die ..." I was 4 and a friggin' 1/2 . You're right it wasn't war and napalm, not even close, but it was pain just the same. Same as Jimi s pain. (Only the drugs were different and i didn't overdose) And I swear, If Canada wasn't a 3 hour bus ride to a town that only spoke french, i would have risked car sickness for a shot at freedom. Instead i remained in Lewiston Maine . A five year old coward. Trying to get my head around grammar without harming my body any further. I do my best with what i understand - for the rest i have a doctors note.Rang

Re: TAXI Forums (Dead or Alive?)
I have a life. The company I keep on the forum board passess the time while I wait for these computers to process my song data or whatever other project it keeps me waiting for.....They did away with the draft when I turned 18.... then reinstated it when I turned 28..... We used to own a car that didn't have seatbelts in the back seat....ArkJack

Re: TAXI Forums (Dead or Alive?)
We have been promoting the hell out of these forums, on many occasions Michael Laskow mentions the forums with a link to get here in his newsletters that go out to more than 170,000 musicians and songwriters.Quote:Quote:Hey Craig... seems to me there's a fair amount of activity here. More than there was a couple of months ago when the joke thread was all that was happening. I spend several hours a week on songwriting boards, and when you add that up.... I suppose I could have come up with another lyric or song, or reworked something in that time. I also don't have a full-time job, spouse, kids, mortgage and all that other cool stuff. I enjoy writing too. If you want to see more activity folks, just start an interesting thread and watch the fingers fly Try also giving feedback on songs or lyrics, participation encourages more participation, I find I was surprised at the Rally to meet folks who didn't know about the forum - especially the new members I meet. Maybe Taxi could include forum info in it's members manual if it doesn't already (I can't remember).Hummin'birdHey Bird!Just to be clear, I'm not knocking those of us who frequent the forums. I get my share of forum time, trust me. I guess my point was the majority of the activity on the forum is primarily coming from a small group of literally 100's of members. That's why I'm encouraging TAXI to promote the forum a bit more to it's membership, new and old alike. We have such a great wealth of talent and experience in this organization. It would be nice to get EVERYONE active, sharing their expertise. I also think it would be more welcoming for newbies if some of the veteran forum users took more initiative to make them feel at home. Vicki, you and I both know that some people can be quite rude to the newbies!(Closed circuit to nomiyah...Of course i missed you!)Blessings,

Re: TAXI Forums (Dead or Alive?)
Michael,What do you want from the forum exactly?I dip in here occassionally to ask my peers some questions about music or technology. Sometimes I smile at some of the personal threads and cringe at some of the too personal threads. Occassionally I get pissed off with what someone says (though I know I shouldn't) and post a comment. But I don't expect people to be jumping over themselves to respond to me.Think of it this way. A forum is like going into a party full of lots of people you don't know and a few friends in the corner. Who would you start chatting with first? There are quite a few people who post on this board alot...that's their perogative....there are also plenty who are happy to just sit back and wait for something interesting to add their thoughts to.Just like in real life, there are some chatty people and some more restrained people....neither is right or wrong. What would you like the board to be like?

So many new people have jumped in and made new friends. Everyone was new at some point. I only know of one situation whereby someone new came on board and was treated badly by another member- and that member obviously has some "issues".Over the past year, I've made a number friends and professional acquaintances here. I don't recall who was here first, but one of us must have been!Yes, the number of participants is smaller than we all would like. But I don't attribute that to "clique"-i-ness, just message board and music internet site saturation over the past few years. Some people here may remember tonos.com. It probably was the most active board of this type. I recall so many people complaining about how tonos did nothing for them, etc... They were right as far as pitching music... Tonos did nothing... But they missed the value of the message board community. The community changed my musical life forever and, without it, I would not have gotten even as far as I have.So what am I saying? Take the best of what you can get from a place like this. Feedback, professional advice, friendship, whatever...Casey
