thanks for the info guys, i don't mind criticism in any way shape or form, i like to know if something in my music isn't right so i can correct it to make it the best it can be. i put a lot of time and energy into my ventures. i know that all music isn't to everybody's taste, and some will like what others don't. I'm just voicing my opinion on what i think taxi is about. i find that taxi don't give enough info on their feedback.
and "NO" i don't think i got my money's worth from them, my musician friend's are very honest and straight to the point, i have recorded tracks to sub and they have told me in no uncertain terms that it was just not good enough, and that i needed to make a lot of changes to get it to what taxi was asking for. so "no" criticism is not a problem to me, but i think taxi should let you know what you should do to make things better instead of just saying this is wrong and that is wrong, by the time you fix what they say is wrong, the listing is finished,

by the way, thanks for the kind words of support, i released a 3 track CD on the 9Th of April under the name MISTAH P, THE CD is called "WE DONT WANT NO", and its on optimum records, available on itunes, amazon and 62 other download sites in over 200 country's.
the video is on YouTube and is being sent to music video show/sites around the world, it may not get aired, and the cd my not be a hit, but im making an effort by myself to make things happen, if you dont try, you dont get, so im going to try my best to get to where i want to be.

And as for it only being $299, i work 50 hours a week on minimum wage to support a family and make ends meet. times are hard for everyone and $299 is $299 regardless of how much money you do or dont have.

my original post was askin about how to go about getting a refund, it wasnt meant to come across as a rant, incase thats what it comes across as.

all that said and done, i wish you all the greatest success in you're future and you get to where you want to be,
hope to be listening to your music on the radio and on tv in the near future, best of luck to you all

MISTAH P

Mizdahp
I do wish you the best.

If you didn't mean for your post to come off like a rant, maybe you shouldn't have used words like "con" in reference to Taxi? :? If it's not a good match for YOU at this time that's a lot different than saying it's not a legit service, as you did.

Two pieces of advice FWIW…

1. Be careful about feedback from friends, even musician friends. That is (in the film/TV realm, for example), unless they are experienced film/TV composers with a successful track record of pitching targeted tracks to specific music requests, you might not be hearing what you need to hear.

2. Be wary of companies you contact that express interest in 'helping' you. They MAY or MAY NOT be legit. On another thread, for example, you mentioned a company that starts with "C" who appears to make their money preying on hungry artists. It is virtually unheard of that someone can just pick up a directory of labels, send demos, and be suddenly launched into mega-success. I wish it were THAT easy!

Taxi may or may not be the right avenue for you. I personally think you didn’t give it the best shot—you never solicited feedback on your Taxi returns from experienced peers right here (FREE!), sent in for a custom critique ($20), etc. We’ve seen people start out with 60-70 returns and finally start making headway with forwards and deals. THEY made the extra effort to learn what the difference was between forward and return, collaborated, etc.

I also disagree that being told what’s NOT right with a submission isn’t teaching you something. Yup, I get it that most film/TV leads are Y/N and that can be tough at times. But even a one sentence comment such as “drums too harsh” or “lyrics not universal enough” tells you what you need to do. And, as I said, there is always the Peer-To-Peer section of this forum. I just got a return whereby the screener was very clear that the lyrics were not universal lyrics for film/TV. I thought it would be heard as “analogy” but apparently not. I don’t expect the screener to re-write the lyrics for me! But I now have an idea how SOMEONE in the industry might react to it. And, in case you don’t know, in the “real” world, 99% is only Y or N with “No” being not hearing back at all.

Keep in mind as well that a Taxi return does not mean you don’t have a great track. It simply means it didn’t fit the requirements for THAT specific listing. Many of us have written/submitted tracks for listings, had them returned, and went on to sign the tracks elsewhere.

Again, best of luck to you.
:D Casey

Hey Miz: I truly wish you the best of luck, and thnks for mentioning where we can hear your music. But here's an additional thing you should be aware of: people are incredibly lazy (including me). If you had posted a link to your music on this site, how many more hits might you have got? Make it EASY for people to listen to your stuff, don't make them go input your URL themselves. Marketing 101. Post a link. As a last comment, if you hang around this thread long enough, (sponsered by TAXI), you will find a ton of people who celebrate the successes of the people on this board, and aspire to achieve the same. Lots of people here willing to give you feedback for free, try the peer to peer forum. Ott

To add a link - type in the link, select it and hit the URL button at the top of the post window - right underneath the subject line.

To add a RN or SC link, just select the URL, copy and paste it into your post, select it, and do as above.

That will wrap your selected text in "" tags and the link will be active. Also, if you mouse over the button, a help tag will appear to show you the format and give you another option.
