Hey Mizdaph
As a fellow UK resident I thought I'd chip in.
If your music gets rejected it doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with it as such. The best track
in the world for the wrong listing won't be a good match. Even the seasoned composer gets a fair amount of
rejections and there can be a number of reasons for that.
The companies that run listings with Taxi wants to make money. They may have one or several clients who let
them know that their adverts/tv programmes need 'something sensitive, yet somehow mysteriously edgy with
a touch of blugrass mixed with gregorian chants'. This type of brief will often be accompanied by a statement like
"I don't know what I want but I know it when I hear it".
Of course sometimes the briefs are a little more specific like 'we want something that sounds like the latest Jay Z
record etc'.
This is not unique to Taxi listings. This is often how this weird and wonderful business of film/tv music works and getting
through to these people who has the power to say yes or no to our latest opus I would liken to digging a hole.
At first it's pretty tough. You may even come across a few hard surfaces. Your shovel will break. Your feet will
become sore and you'll swear at everyone. After a while of digging you'll reach a little
deeper. It's still not a hole but it's beginning to resemble a hole and after yet another while of quicksand and mud........ BREAKTHROUGH!
Someone somewhere on this crazy planet compares your music to the Beatles and thinks you have that certain
something (although he'll struggle to define exactly what that is). "IT'S A HIT" you'll hear him shout down the phone.
Bottom line: he thinks he can make you some real dough from the real world and right there my friend you have sown the seed of a career as a composer in film and tv.
You may need to invest some of your hard earned cash and only you can decide whether this is the right way forward
for you.
Regardless of what you choose I wish you every success.
Peace

Re: taxi refunds
Mizdaph: Well, since I made the suggestion that you post a link to your music, how could I not listen when you did? Listened to Mistah P, excellent. Really well done. Also watched your video, "150 beats per minute", and it really was excellent! One of the best videos and vocal performances I've seen in a long time. You are way talented (not that you need to hear it from me), but keep pushing your stuff! It will find a home, hopefully in a place that will reward you for your talent! Ott

Re: taxi refunds
I listened, too; while there's nothing at all wrong with the music, there were issues with the mix in what I heard.
