Thanks.Cakewalk program is now open!

Post by byllsong » Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:25 am

Hi, I've been using Music Creator for several year with no problem.Last night I went to open it up and it would not. I did a re-boot and it worked. This morning I tried to open it again and nothing happened. I did a re-boot again and it worked. So to test, I closed the program and tried to open it again...nothing happened. I had to go to work, where I am now. I'm concerned. Does anyone have any idea what the problem/solution might be?Billy

Make sure you back your projects up first.Hope this helps,Dave.

Also do a disc-check at start up and tell it to correct any found errors, and defrag your drives, as well as run a virus and spyware scan, a good free one is www.spywareterminator.com

No problem, I usually find that when a program won't open, something else is running that is sucking up RAM.

If there's time, it might be good to backup the entire section of the music drive first (if you don't have a recent copy)...just in case (as Dave forebode). It would be good to have the music files saved.
Earplugs may be required for anyone over the age of cool.

Have you installed another application/hardware device/driver prior to the crash? Garrett

Hi,Quote:Have you installed another application/hardware device/driver prior to the crash? The only thing new on my computer is an upgrade to Norton 360 2.0 which I did about a month ago.I did a complete scan and tried again and nothing changed.I uninstalled and reinstalled...same thing. I did notice that I did not save any of my files, but after installing the new one, it still had all my old files. I would have thought that an install would have cleared anything not saved and I would be able to start from scratch.I sent an e-mail to Cakewalk support, they say I should hear back in about 2 days. BillyYes, as long as you keep the directory, it shouldn't delete your own files. You might try removing the program again, and also that directory. Then also remove any related files from your registry with regedit. But be careful what you take out! Uninstalling doesn't always take out everything. Then try reinstalling the program. Again, make sure you've backed up your files.
