Quote:The Russian Anthem is the most fun piece of music of the lot of them, imho.Steve the off-topic meister... I'll do you one better...did you know that, after the fall of the Soviet Union the anthem was replaced by some other song, but after a few years they decided that one sucked so they brought the old Soviet one back...only problem is the lyrics were...ahem..."outdated" so they actually found the original lyricist who was still alive and had him re-write the lyrics. Gotta be the strangest re-write in history...Btw...I thought I had this one to myself ...growing up everybody was always really pissed when the "damn Russians" would win another Gold at the Olympics...except for me who was secretly pleased I'd get to hear that beautiful song again... Look I love sports but I'm a musician dammit...gotta have priorities Sorry about the hijack Casey...

off-topic meister? moi?For a long time, the best Canadian Pro hockey players were not allowed to play in the Olympic hockey tournaments. I was forced to listen to that Russian Anthem a few times, and felt the same as you. I love hockey, but that music kicks ass. What a song! Such pomp and grandiosity! Whenever I hear it, it still reminds me of a being a kid and being force-fed fear, that the Russians we're coming... --- but they never did... and what an excellent backstory. thanks Matto, once again.Quote:Quote:The Russian Anthem is the most fun piece of music of the lot of them, imho.Steve the off-topic meister... Re: There are no "do-overs" for music submissions
Just wanted to let you know that my screener and another Taxi staff member emailed me and helped me out a lot. I tell you, what I have learned in the past 3 days is how much Taxi staff and members really care. I have found a lot of folks willing to help me out. And I think my main problem was not really knowing the vocabulary and phrases people use in music. I still have tons to learn about that. I got a little upset about some things that I know now, I shouldn't have gotten upset about. Just my inexperience showing.Well, I thought I could do a rough record on the 40 songs, post them, and be done with it. Just submit them to listings once a month. Being a substitute teacher with a husband who works nights, having a 9 yr old typical kid and 11 year old severely autistic son, doesn't leave much time for music at all. Oh well. I guess I'll just try and work on them one at a time until I get them all up to the quality they need to be. Sleeping is vastly overrated anyway! A huge thanks to everyone for their patience and willingness to "school the new girl."Anna
